are you going to use a carb ?? if so i tryed to ask questions about whipple but the guy they have selling the carb set up is very hard to get answers out of so i didn't buy one they make good power out of the hole all the way up. i did not have good luck with procharger they blow apart at least the 2 i had p600b models and there brackets are no good. the blower shop has a nice small blower good for 10 psi all billit made with 2 piece intake. i had a b&m 144 for years with good results but you wont make 900hp with it. vortech is a very good unit.

turbos will be the easiest option for good strong and reliable 900bhp! you could do it easy with a stock LS1 (forged bottom end) or a built SBC.

you could also look into the Kenne Bell supercharger for the LS1/2. a guy on the Corvette Forum has pushed over 850wrhp using the soon to be launched 2.8 ltr blower!

whipple is noce but i have heard they are a pain in the ass to get hold of and have crap customer service! :(

thanks Chris.

The best twin screw supercharger on the market is made by Autorotor. They are sold exclusively in the USA by Kenne Bell.

It's kind of late but here's my .02cents worth...
I know what you mean. I went with a Whipple due to the simplicity. Regardless of what everyone says, all the plumbing is way more complex with a turbo unless you can buy it in a kit already made for your exact car.

Here's a shot of mine. I had to squeeze it into a Vette engine compartment so I was concerned about size and room. After doing my research, I bolted on a Whipple. No intercooler installed yet, but these are efficient enough I may never need one. I also went with EFI because I want to be able to tune the thing myself...I went with a small block because I'm concerned about the environment. ;) With a BB, 1,000hp should be pretty easy...

Without knowing *anything* about the EFI setup, the engine started in 5 seconds. We did a few dyno runs in a single day with no additional tuning - it's putting out over 750lb-ft at 3,300rpm. If I ever want more, I'll just swap to a smaller pulley. Right now, my next major project will be beefing up the rear to try and get more traction...

I purchased a used kit for my 99 5.3L GMC. I needed a few odds and ends to make it fit my truck as it was for a 03. They're abit steep on their pricing (like $60 for directions!) I also sent my ECU in for their tuning, needless to say I would have been better off doing my own w/ LS1 edit. It prett much sucked everwhere (pinging, lean codes etc) This was for a stock truck, I expected to be somewhat close if they did their kit built around a stock vehicle.

Their customer service was fair. I had to follow up a few times as I never got a call back in timely manner.

If the tune was right, it makes good power from a non-intercooled 7lbs of boost. It's definatly comes on right off throttle which is nice.

I'm using a Holley C950 for the computer. The S/C was about 3k for a carb unit, but I opted for the EFI throttle body since I wanted it to fit under the hood, so there was another 1.5k or so...

There are more details on my website in the link below.
