I'm not big on stripes either, but love what they did.

Also, do you happen to know the process they used to get the trim to this state of finish? I see a scuff pad and some sanding disks...

Alot of picking and filing. Matt has no fingerttips left.

Thanks for the response.

I was more referring to the matte, brushed, look they achieved. I'd love to replicate that as the finished product on my trim.

I would assume these are all bead-blasted originals from the car, seeing that it was a complete car to start. Good question on a full kit. I would talk to any of the suppliers and see if they can put together an order for you with all of the hardware that you need.
Matts Classic Bowtie or Camaro Central might have them

Why does Matt chop the bottom of the rad support off? To center the radiator? Or for a floating mount?

The stack up of radiator, innercooler and condenser are so big is has to come out to fit and give space for induction tube. Plus cutting the sides and bottom off core support give more area for air to pass through for better cooling

Those are the VSS sensor wires and they come as a twisted pair in the AAW Classic Update harness. Improves noise immunity.

Curious minds want to know??

Since I've lost mine, I still want to know,

OLDFLM
02-06-2025, 08:47 AM
Pretty sure the larger resonators at the front are just to add volume and a bit of absorption to reduce (harsh/high frequencies) noise. And placing/packaging them up front allows for more volume (eg. larger resonators).

I would think that placing larger resonators near the headers, before the X-pipe and mufflers, would reduce drone and potentially offer a small performance increase by slightly improving exhaust gas flow.

Some other shops place small resonators at the rear of the system (for exhaust note tuning) but my guess is that Charlie is just after a mellow and refined exhaust tone.

Absolutely stunning. What a flawless build, I could stare at these photos for hours.
If you have them, could you provide more photos of the extra support bar you added for the panhard bar? Such as how it mounts to the body?
As always, thanks for sharing Charlie!!

Charlie, I have a couple options for your pedals.

1. A brake pedal cover that matches the DBW pedal.
1967-81 Auto Brake Pedal (https://modoinnovations.com/collections/specialty-pedal-covers/products/gm-match-1967-81-camaro-firebird-1968-74-nova-automatic-pedal-covers)

2. An adapter that fits the DBW that allows you to use a factory gas pedal.

I am not a photographer by any means. I had trouble in the beginning with the photos looking not black or almost reflective when I was taking the product photos. I ended up not using the flash and just used perimeter lighting.

A friend of mine took that pic, I'm not taking blame. The pedal covers look great in real life.

Charlie, or anyone really, how did Sled Alley get that finish on the exhaust pipes and mufflers? Is it from using the red scotch brite pad I see on the bench or another method? I'd really like to finish the exhaust on my truck in the same manner. Thank you

I would say yes. That's how it's done on the SS piping in the food manufacturing facility I work at & is how I've done the SS exhaust systems I've built. The different grades of the Scotch Brite pads offer varying degrees of polish. Red & Green is coarser. Grey & White is finer.

I really like what they did to the center of the dash, but I also really like the center OEM metal vent on the AC cars from 67/68,

Since my dash is all painted I'm sticking with the original equipment but will try to do something with the radio area, or not, I don't listen to the radio, just XM, but I'm far from that point, so I'll go back to the shop now,

Interior blend of modern with stock looks great. I noticed prior to paint no holes for electric to the doors, and it looks like manual crank up windows here unless the cranks actuate power windows. Did you go electric or stock for the windows?

Flowmaster FlowFX. We talked about it a couple pages back. I believe he gives more details there, too.

I have these same mufflers on my C10 which currently has a stock 305. Just finished the piping. Need to make a few hangers before I can fire it up to hear how it sounds. Really hoping for a Magnaflow style sound.
