Just a heads-up, in less than 24 hours you'll all be seeing pictures of my engine finished. I've been waiting 5 weeks, and living in NH, this is about the most exciting thing next to Wal-mart and NASCAR weekends. I'll have all the specs and pics tomorrow

I am on Spring Break, if I go on AIM it consumers my life...I try to stay away from it, and get work done. Being on here is bad enough lol. Once I get back at school I'll give you a buzz on there.

haha, I'll post the specs as soon as I get the pictures up tomorrow guys, I promise. As for right now, I'm looking at 600-625 hp normally, and max of 950 hp on nitrous, i'll have all sorts of dyno sheets and videos if Scott would like to post by the end of next week :D

Hmmm... how do I put this...

mega dissapointment this afternoon, not only was my engine NOT complete, some of the things I asked him to put on the engine (such as the comp cams 3-piece timing cover instead of a cheapo 30 dollar steel one) weren't adressed :( Chad's a great guy though, he said he'll toss the timing cover in for free since everythings been such hell, which is incredibly nice of him. The other thing was that my heads didn't flow as much as I had thought they would, I was expecting in the 280-290 cfm range, maybe kissing 300 if I were lucky, but all they could muster was a paltry 260 cfm :( so my estimates on power are now 550~ and 575~.

Oh well though, the dyno time is set for tuesday or wednesday night, I'm bringing a 12 pack for the event, and if I see anything above 575 horsepower, I'll pretty much crap myself. BUT, this should only be temporary, and I'm shopping right now for a set of bare CNC'd 220 AFR's :)

well then, onto the specs:

-1974 400 block, 010 high nickel content, bored .030, clearanced, decked, deburred, blah blah blah...
-Eagle forged 4340 rotating asm, 3.875 stroke with 6 inch H-beam rods, Ross flat tops with (-8cc) valve reliefs
-Speed-Pro nitrous rings (not too sure I'm happy with them)
-Moroso high volume pump
-Edelbrock Victor E intake
-Brodix -8 heads, ported to match gaskets, 2.08/1.6, 66 cc's
-Comp Cams cam I made, specs:

Intake: .616 Exhaust:.629
Lobe center: 112 Valve overlap: 30.0
Intake duration: 248 Exhaust duration: 260

specs set at 1.6 rocker

-Comp Cams solid super roller lifters
-Comp Cams Hi-Tech pushrods
-Scorpion 1.6 roller rockers
-Comp Cams Magnum wet belt drive timing set
-Chrome 2.5 hp ministarter
-ARP everything
-Fel-Pro .051 head gaskets
-Edelbrock water pump
-Barry Grant 850 mechanical with annular boosters
-MSD pro-billet mechanical distributor
-MSD 8.8 wires
-MSD 6-AL timing box, blaster 3 coil
-March Performance serpentine belt pulley type thing, power steering and alternator only
-and hopefully that 3-piece timing cover from comp cams...

did i forget anything?

haha, that's awesome, glad to see i'm not alone in the engine dept. I'm looking for some 220 AFR's or maybe a set of track 1's, anyone got any advice on which cylinder heads to use? what flow best after work? i know both the aforementioned really wake up with porting, and i'm looking for heads that will be able to get into the 300 cfm range. anyone? anyone? i just need them bare, dunno where to look since this is kinda sudden

Hey Kman, name's Russ, glad to meet ya, now which Auburn are you from? NH? Maine? Mass? Every state has one up here  anywho, I assume you're 'rockin' the first gen camaro style and keeping it 'real' with all the other amazing folks on this site, god I love those cars. My engine will be going into a seriously redone '72 Olds Cutlass :)

that sounds so delicious it made my mouth water. My engine finally made it onto the dyno, but turns out one of the heads had a small crack in it and started leaking coolant into the exhaust... bummer. So.... for now he's having a welder look at what he can do to repair them, while at the same time scrounging for some bare castings that are readily available, since the 220 AFR's i want have a 14-16 week wait on them  i just need some heads man :(

hey spatz, ever look into canfields? They are available, not terribly expensive, and flow great right out of the box. A friend bought em instead of the unavailable afr220's he wanted, his 3,08 geared 350 vette runs low 11's on motor, mid 10's on 200 shot.

i have looked into canfields and they seem very nice, only trouble is they only run a 65cc combustion chamber, which would definetly hamper my ability to use street gas without some serious timing attention  AFR's come with 76 cc chambers, which should make the compression right around 10.5, perfect for street gas and great for huge nitrous shots when used with c23 or 16. Thanks for the advice though, it is really appreciated

lol, thanks man, i just picked up a set of bare casting Dart 230cc heads with a 72cc combustion chamber, these things are sweet! :D

I'm currently looking for a CNC porter in my area so i can bore out those intake tubes to breath around 300 cfm at right around .600 lift, then my engine will make TONS of power right where it needs it. Anybody in the New England area familiar with head shops with cnc abilities?
