It is almost time to insure my 67 Nova. What insurance is affordable for a somewhat high end build?

I know there is Hagerty, which is expensive. Does Grundy have a good track record because their prices are 60% cheaper than Hagerty.

Both good companies. Insurance is one of those deals where no one company is always cheaper than another, you have to shop as different people, cars, zip codes can make big differences. Also check driving restrictions as those can be quite different between companies.

I would also get a quote from LaRue Classics (http://www.larueclassics.com/) and Classic Collectors (http://infinityquotes.com/classic/go.php?SourceCode=KN52P07122012080900065P85).

In 1997 I owned one of the first Superformance Cobras and could not find anyone willing to insure it. Then I found Heacock. When I talked to them, I explained that I bought the car from Bob Bondurant and planned on driving it, and doing some track days with PASA. I sent them proof of my driving school training at Bondurant, pictures of the car and I have been with them ever since. The gentleman I talked to, happened to have a Cobra replica also, and was driving on tracks in Florida, so he knew exactly what I was talking about. What good is it if you can't drive your car..... Its been a while, and things may have changed, but I have been satisfied with their service.

Understanding track days and covering you for track days are very very different.

Please read all of the fine print.

Track day insurance is available and is typically anywhere a few hundred (per day) to many hundreds depending on the value of your car. Lockton is one place that does daily track day coverage.

I use Lockton for my trailer and the car I am building. I tried many companies to insure my trailer, but because it has living quarters with a kitchen, nobody would insure it. Crazy. I have an agreed value policy on both my car and trailer. Lockton does not have “on road” insurance for cars, that I am aware of.
