Coolest.
Riv.
Ever.

Heaven help my marriage if this ever shows up at Barrett-Jackson.
I'll be the guy throwing a tantrum like a 3 year old at Target.

I got a real chuckle out of this pic. Not that there was any doubt but Mark’s shirt proves he is a real engineer. Never trust an engineer who is not wearing a plaid, checkered or otherwise linear patterned shirt. They are posers!

You (and your idiot friend Mark) should be proud of your direction of a shop that showed it was up to the task of an incredible build.

Thanks. Mark and I both love the work that Matt does. Mark is so comfortable using Matt. He trusts his work completely and has told me so more than once. During the build Matt asked me if he should do a basic floor or could he have fun. I said to have fun. The floor was killer to see as he “had fun”.. exceptional talent that cares about his work. I’m getting really excited. I haven’t seen it since it was stock.

Car is awesome Charlie! Was great fun getting it dialed in. You might want to invest in some spare rear tires sooner rather than later as well.... anything below ~60-70 seems to overtax them easily.

Lol, very true... I just hope that I’m not in the boonies when it will probably happen to me.

I, along with plenty of others will eventually ditch mine. But I’ll Sweat a bit on my next long road trip.

And yes, “when was the last time you had a blowout” can be asked with nary an answer, but If you drive a lot, I’m sure you have stories to tell.

Now I’ve definitely put the pox on poor Charley :peepwall:

New tires aren't what they used to be -- they're MUCH better.... but a nail is a nail....

I was following KWhizz out of Denver last year when I thought I saw he had a low tire -- pulled up long side and he was about to be on the rim... The beauty of being on a tour like this - the pickup trailer was 10 minutes out - scooped him up - and off to Costco or TireXXX store -- and he was at the next stop with the rest of us.

I put runflats on the red '32 -- for this reason -- I like to drive A LOT -- but I hated the tires... so it totally wasn't worth it. Just pay AAA and have your cell phone charged...

I can remember as a kid riding in my uncles, now my dads, 64 Plymouth Sport Fury sliding all over the back seat as they cornered under power. A lot of fun when you don’t have to worry about controlling the car, lol.

Ok, I’ll recal it to keep bypass open, limit blade opening to ~30%, shift earlier, and lockup converter in all gears to get 20mpg for you...... I did not realize hypermiling was the goal....

Or leave it in it’s current tire-frying mode and you can have so much more fun!

I’m pretty sure a better road car does not exist. The upgraded mechanics wrapped in a body that came “custom” from the factory...it’s perfect!

You’ve probably got the seats figured out, or will by the end of the trip. My suggestion is to keep them stock appearing with a bit more support, as subtle as the rest of the car.

Nice car, Charley

Jeff Hayes (never met him) has a set of 8 series BMW (E31) seats recovered to match the originals in his '64. Don't know how much you plan on putting people in the back seat but they are not sliding, only power forward and backward.

After putting close to 3000 miles and traveling to 11 states I am really impressed on how this car turned out. Still lots to do but Matt got it done enough for me to drive and have a great vacation. The car is smooth, fast, killer looking, got compliments all week and never let me down. On a long road trip like this it is much better than any of my Camaro's were. This heavy car just soaks up the bumps and keeps on truckin. The Roadster Shop chassis is really nice. You could be doing 120 with 1 finger on the wheel, bumps have no effect. Still lots of little stuff to do but I love this car. Trunk is big enough for plenty of stuff.

CTX.....I bought a pair of those BMW seats. Having the 3 point harness built into the seat is perfect.:thankyou:Glad I could return the favor for you taking the time to get me the dimensions for the rocker molding mounts. Can't wait to see the results.

On the second or third day I had gas coming out of the 2 Much breather vent. Solved it temporarily by drilling a tiny hole in the gas cap. Permanent solution will be adding a vent tube to gas tank filler neck and connecting it to the 2 Much system.:bang:

I spent years wrenching for a living so it’s not my first rodeo. I’m just old and cranky now and want my stuff done better that I have the talent or patience to do.

Yep, I hear you loud and clear
...Also not having the time to do it either.
Now that I’m post 60, I don’t want to wait, I want everything now

Drove it almost 3000 miles and didn’t road rash the frame once. Matt said plenty of gravel is everywhere but no scrapes. Ha

Then you were'nt going fast enough. My car loved those cattle grates on that "highway" somewhere outside of Logan UT. Doug (the Lucky7Speedshop giveaway truck) saw my car "light up" lol. We were, how u say, driving spiritually.

Glad your car was "unscathed" underneath, mine was unscathed on top....

Agree with the others, the car looked great at SEMA.

The execution is spot on. Looks nearly stock on the outside, to include the interior. Everything underneath is all business.

Met the owner at the SEMA show. Car looked great. The owner was nice enough to talk to us about his car for about 30 mins. Nice guy.

That is a fact — and I suppose I owe him a hearty “you’re swell” and a pat on the arse for it. I might even hold back on the tee so I don’t embarrass him.

Meet up with Charlie today at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals and got a chance again to look over the Riv. It is perfect car idea. Very detailed with some top quality equipment with a body that is already broken in, so you can drive the hell out of it and not worry that it's going to get scratched.

Try to match the Rivera stitching. Love car, been looking for one since seeing it at Sema.
