69 Mustang Fastback Project: "Pale Horse"

I bought the car last summer, it was a garage find that a local muscle car dealer went through with a not so fine tooth comb to get it back on the road and turn a profit. it had been sitting in dry storage since the early 90's and still had the build sheet in good condition under the carpet. I've been driving the car pretty much every day and I intend to build as I go and do major stuff during the winter months when there's snow on the ground.

The end goal here is to build a blend of road course/autocross car that I can still drive to work every morning, which I do. I've never built a car like this so I'm going to be learning as I go and hopefully with input from more experienced builders turn the car in my head, into reality.

Anyway I've already done some work on it so far so I'll bring you up to speed.

I like the look of the Boss 429 scoop and blacked out rear tail panel so I immediately went to work making that happen.. small cosmetic changes while I waited on parts to come in. I'm going to have the car repainted silver ,professionally, after I'm done building it so forgive the driveway rattle can work. Hood scoop fit left something to be desired but again, I intend to go with anvil carbon hood and fenders later in the build. Looks good cruising by.

The car bottomed out like crazy because the previous owner had cut the springs. So that needed fixing first, Also the car has manual steering and brakes. For the front end I decided to with Total Control products coil over conversion since it fit the budget, updates the geometry, is fully adjustable and bolted right in.

After installing the new front end I was blown away with the improvement. Although I'm not tearing through the twisties just yet but at least I can cruise them and not die... which is nice.. next was steering, I decided to again go with total control products and got their power rack and pinion conversion with pump. little grinding and it bolted right up.

I like the upgrades to the front suspension. My sister has a 1967 mustang that one of her sons conveniently wreckws the front suspension on. This looks like a good conversion, thanks for posting!

Thanks fellas, It's nice to be here building my dream.

So the engine in the car is the stock 351W.. I made the decision early on to save the engine for last (since it runs pretty strong now) and to get the chassis sorted. Anyway, intake manifold started leaking pretty bad so I decided to put an new Edelbrock unit on as well as upgrade the ignition and throw on some fabricated aluminum valve covers while I was at it.. not much of difference in the seat of the pants but it looks bitchin and doesn't leak anymore.
