You guys know I love my 454SS trucks. I bought this one last year from the original owner's wife after he passed. It had 7k original miles. I immediately lowered it, wheels & tires but it was the only one of my 3 that was stock engine wise. My red '93 has a 502 and my white '93 has a whipple. I wanted to build something totally different for the blk '92. The build is a built 408 LS with twin Precision dual ball bearing 67s. I just got it back this weekend. It's on 5psi for now for break in. It will eventually be tuned for 15 psi on 93 and will go up much more than that on race gas or E85. I just wanted something fun to drive, not race. This thing is blast. I plan on eventually doing some sort of 4 link and a small mini tub to put a larger tire on. I changed the rear gear to 3:45 and the 4L80E has been built.

Nice!! I'm partial to these trucks too. What kind of power do you expect on the 93 octane tune?

Missed you when we came down for Adrienne's graduation! She's now Executive Event Chef where she works....
We just didn't have time with Aunts and Uncles and Cousins and out of town grade school friends -- in other words - herding cats! In other words - there just was no more time in that weekend. OMG!
Truck must be a friggin' beast! And wow! What fantastic looking work they did! First rate craftsmanship there!

Looks great, SW. That's some serious power.
Why start with a 454SS truck though? Is there more to these trucks than the 454 engine?

Any thing done to the suspension and brakes to make em more "slot car esque"?
Love those trucks!!
Dude! You are so good for the economy! =)

I just have a thing for them. They also have a heavy duty 14 bolt rear end, 480LE trans, 6k Rpm factory tach, 110mph speedo and the '91-'93s are super rare.

I had white '92 454SS. Great truck! I bet you at least doubled the fuel economy with that swap! My stock truck got about 10-12 mpg.

Thanks SW. I figured there was a little more to them than just having the 454 under the hood. I've always thought the trucks looked great, but I know very little about them.

Very nice! I love those C10 trucks also. My dad had a 1983 C10 back in the 90's, I wish he still had that truck...great memories. As always, you are building awesome rides. Love it!

Don Hardy race engines is who built the 480hp LS3 in my *Gwen's* '33 Ford.
They're also where Brizio gets his custom motors from.... so that tells you something right there.

Exactly Greg...that's why I didn't have second thoughts on giving them my business. Don Jr, is a pretty good guy too. I know this may not seem like anything to some of y'all but Don Jr. actually calls you back personally. To me, that's a big selling point because (1) you can almost never get anyone from most businesses to even call you back at all and (2) he, as an owner and Don Hardy's son, calls you back. Not some other guy or worker who cannot answer your questions accurately or quote any prices. For those of you in the market for an motor, you might want to give them a try.
