Vehicle Handling Issue

Ok, so I know this is not a Mercedes forum, but I figured someone here might be able to help me.

So the issue is on my wifes ML350 Mercedes. She ran over something back in July timeframe, and had a tire go flat. I replaced both the rear tires, and left the originals on the front. This was at about 36000 miles and we are now at 40000. We drove it out of town this weekend, and it is squirrly. When you change lanes it seems to throw you into that lane when it hits line. If you hit a solid line, it pulls you to that side, it doesn't matter which side.

I was thinking I had too much air pressure and maybe riding on the crown, but when checking the monitoring system, it shows them to be right on in the rear and 2lbs low in the front. There were a couple of times, it pulled pretty hard. I don't feel anything in the steering wheel to show something might be loose, tires on the front have just hit the wear indicators and will be replaced soon.

Size is 255/55R19 and based onhe vehicle should be 44psi rear and 41psi front, unless loaded, which brings it to 48psi all the way around.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Send it in for an alignment

Sounds to me like the rear end is the issue. As though it's following or reacting to the front end - like the front goes first and then the rear snaps over....

I'd take it in for an alignment - but I'd tell them about "hitting something" because you need them to look to see if there was something damaged.

I wish I had a car that would go 40k on a set of tires. Agreed..align the car. My wife's Altima drives kinda like this when tires are down to wear bars, but not so darty. I'd go ahead and buy a set of tires while I was at it.

Another vote for alignment. A little toe out will make the car darty.

If she hits a lot of parking blocks or curbs it can mess up the alignment like the others have stated. It's a good place to start.

Thanks all for the replies. She is usually pretty good about hitting curbs, what ever she hit on the road caused the tire to go down. Around town driving, you done notice it, just highway driving.
I need to go ahead and get the tires, and I will get it aligned. I'll look at the rearend tosee if I notice anything really wrong back there. Weld, you hit it with your explanation. It does feel like the rear kicks over to follow the front.
