On the fence choosing a EFI transplant kit for my 67 Corvette, installing a 2008 LS7 with West Coast Cylinder's stage II heads, comp cam Dur @ .050 281 289 112 Lobe Sep & 650 lift, LSX FAST intake and 1023 TB. Close ratio magnum T56. Choosing between FAST EZ-EFI, Terminator LS MPFI Kit or flashing the original computer. Would like suggestion or experience with EFI transplant systems. Building mainly a street car and occasionally auto crossing.

If it were me, I'd use the factory computer.
There are lots of tuners out there that are very experienced and very good with the factory ECUs. Finding a tuner for an aftermarket system is quite another thing.

Agree with above, I used factory computer on supercharged LS7 and the BEST tuner in my area.
Cheers

Are you going to want to make changes to the tune yourself in the future? What do your local tuners use/prefer? Stock ECU is great, but not as user friendly as some of the aftermarket options. And if you are going to rely on someone else making every change to your calibration, you might as well use what they are most comfortable with.

Try looking at this;

Wicked fast processor and lots of features. Competitively priced with that FAST and Holley but does way more. This 1 box controls everything with the harness listed, and no added spark box like the FAST. Plus trans control to be added this fall.
Good stuff.
I had a Fast XFI system in my old 67' Nova with an LS6. I'm sure it's great for experienced tuners, but the shop who did my car could never get it running right... Too complex. I'd opt for a factory computer in the future.

Thats a huge cam for the street, even for an LS7. I would reconsider using it, or at least talking to someone who custom grinds cams. Nothing worse that having to tear into a nice clean install to make changes. I also prefer the stock ecm/injection system for your intended use. Scott

I am in the same spot, and here's my opinion fwiw.. Why pay for a tuner/dyno tune, and pay again of you make additional changes, gears, cams, heads, etc... Plus it seems as if there are a lot of tuners these days. Yeah 2500 is a lot of coin to drop on a controller (if it's got the trans control) but 400-600 for dyno tunes, plus 100-200 for re-tunes, or if the orig tuner doesn't do it right, then your back at square 1

I went with an aftermarket ECU on my project, and recently switched back to a factory ECU. With the right tuning, a factory ECU is hard to beat for overall drivability and performance. And factory ECUs have factory knock sensing built in - which is a major bonus in my view. Those cast pistons in the LS motors have very low tolerance for detonation. And if it's tuned MAF-only (like the GM crate ECUs do) it will be very tolerant of different performance modifications.
But the aftermarket stuff is very functional as well - hard to go badly wrong if you stick to the major names mentioned above.

Saw your car on the attached link, sweet!
But unfortunately you're wrong on the MAST ECU, it isn't the only one that offers all that. The AEM Infinity has been out for almost 2 years and it does all the MAST does and possibly more. 2 DBW programs, internal wideband, dual knock sensors, COP, Flex fuel, lots of failsafes, Nitrous and a crap load of datalogging to name a few things.
Just sayin:thumbsup:

Yes, the writeup on my car was done in 2010, and is dated now. The AEM is indeed an extremely capable unit, as is, for instance, the Holley Dominator. But just from my personal point of view, unless I see a specific non-standard need like nitrous or traction control, the factory ECU with a harness from SpearTech or PSI is my default now.
