I picked up this Firebird a couple weeks ago. My wife's parents used to own it, I bought it from the guy who bought it from them. My wife thought it would be cool to own the car that her folks had when they were young. The car is very original, paint is pretty good and the rest is mostly untouched. I have a bunch of parts left over from the various Nova iterations, so away we go.

Parts I have
-CPP Big front brakes/pwr booster and drop spindles
-QA1 Pro coils front and rear shocks
-17" 5 spokes with BFG KDW's
-ProForged front end kit (tall uppers, lwrs, tie rod ends, aluminum adjusters)
-ProSystems carb

Need to buy
-2004r trans
-Rear end gears and posi
-Exhaust
-4 barrel intake (keeping the 326 Pontiac even though they suck)
-Fast ratio steering gear
-Updated wiring harness
-Gauges
-Shifter conversion
That is the basics of the hardware. I plan to blast and detail the underneath and pretty much clean up and dial in the rest. Ultimate goal is to make the car drive nice. Going back to back driving the stock Bird, and then my Nova is crazy. These things in stock form really don't cut it.

Stage one of updates are complete on the Firebird. Car has been lowered and front disc brakes are on. I re-did all the brake lines with nickel copper line and AN fittings. I bought the good flaring tool from k-tool and can do both 37 and 45 deg flares. Works great!. Wheels and tires , tie rods, tall upper ball joints are all on as well. It drives way better.

I haven't done anything with this car in a long time. I got the 69 c10 on the road just after Christmas and decided since work was slow I would LS3 swap the bird. I figure I should update the thread. Pictures to follow.

The LS3 came from Rydell and was on my floor the next day. They are great people to deal with. I'm liking the retro look LS motors so I went that route. I adapted some SBC valve cover mounts to Pontiac. It took 2 tries because the Holley ones were too tall and hit the brake booster. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240418/e88453013c1d05c12957d06e8435e057.jpg

I copied Mark with the coil mounts and adapted an electric fan to the stock rad.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240418/d8c7cd23ff23ddeff41ab2617f3a68f1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240418/1c875985794dafae1f7f2ef4e84d68d6.jpg

Made up an exhaust from leftovers and tied it into a rear cross flow muffler.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240418/7ee163eaed2492122870d31c5a376129.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240418/3b5c50576e8175bcb6756b45c1de00bb.jpg

Don’t make me 2nd guess myself. I have thousands into making a distributorless efi Pontiac that isn’t built yet. Something like this has been creeping into the back of my head.
Engine looks great and right at home in the engine bay.
