I bought a pair of 2nd gen mirrors for my 68 and don't want to use the remote control cable for the drivers mirror. Anybody have any ideas if you can remove it and hopefully stiffen up the mirror so you can adjust it by hand. Not sure yu have to do anything but I thought maybe one of you would have done or seen it done before. Thank You

I didn't want to cut the trim on the door panel for mine so I zip tied the control inside the door away from the window and regulator. This way I keep a tight mirror
