Looking for maybe a little input on front suspension design/geometry... I decided to redo the front suspension on my mustang and this happened:

I have a good plan to tie it all off the the cage, I have subframe connectors I did a long time ago that are stuffed into the frame rails like a foot. So I am basically going to extend that out the front to where I cut, and make a tie in point there...

I'm planning on running stock car products spindles and hubs, Ive got some 6 piston wilwoods that should work. Front steer sweet mfg assist steering rack. SO that is the plan, biggest issue will be wheels. I want to go with a large diameter (18") so I can fit the spindle and balljoints inside the barrel of the wheel. That way I can build the arms and everything wide, but still put a 315 tire up front without crazy amounts of scrub radius....

Bolt pattern on the car will be 5x5 5/8" stud. Id like to get wheels for hopefully 5-600$ a wheel, Ive been quoted like 3500$ for 18's so I was hoping to find a better alternative... We shall see though, id rather not run a 15" , I dont think I could build the suspension with decent geometry and not have my car end up like 6" wider than what I had before..

Transmission is a T101A.
The rear is a 3 link coilover that I built a while ago, it works well but the front - rear balance was always off. I was running stock suspension before so I felt it was lacking in the front end..
It had about ~350horse 289 in it before. It moved alright for what it was. Should run a bit better now...

It is a 66. Some of these photos are on various stages of me building it (and progressing skill levels...) You can see the upper link mount in the second pink, I made the upright way too tall, I didnt know where I would want it so I made it plenty adjustable.. I figure this time around I may build a chromoly housing to drop some weight and make it nicer but we will see.

Here is some footage I got this past weekend at sears point.. The car was definitely not in tip top handling shape as seen in the video... Long story short my rear shocks got lost last minute, so I had to steal the penske coil over shocks off the front, redo the rear shock mounts, and run some old koni's up front. The front end was really wishy washy, the ride height was off but I ran it and still had fun :lol:

Very cool, looks like fun to me! Nice to see a coupe and a wide body at that, are the panels pulled out or fiberglass?

I basically used two fenders per fender, and two quarter panel skins, per side and I cut the original one, then put the overlay skin on, and "pinched" it in the middle and pushed it out that way, then just welded it together

Its an old cup motor. I bought it blown up and just got it rebuilt, obviously in the picture the motor isnt assembled but I am just using it for mock up..

Its got yates C3 heads, kryptonite crank, carrillo rods, je pistons, 5 stage dry sump. I figure it should be pretty nuts having about 2x the horsepower. It was fun with my 289, but I just want to take it to the next level.

Trying to get some structure up front, I need visualization! Not good enough to just design it all in CAD and everything works...

I am working on the front motor plate, hopefully I will get it cut it soon. I'd like to get the location of the engine figured out. It is pretty close, my precision wheel cart may be a bit low though...... It will probly come up at least an inch.

Next I plan on working on A arm geometry. I played with it a bit, havent got it quite figured out yet.

Welcome Brian. It will probably be difficult to find the wheels that you are needing with the width, diameter, backspace and 5/8 studs for the money you are wanting to spend.
