I have been having stalling issues with my 68 Camaro. It has been my daily driver for about the last 10 years and has been pretty much in the same configuration. It is a 327 powerglide car. HEI flame thrower, edelbrock 1406 (600) The car seems to be runnning better than ever besides the stalling issue I'm having.
The problem: The car will only stall when it is at or very close to close to idle, warm, and in gear. So if I'm coming to a stop or just sitting in traffic. It gets worse as it gets warmer. As soon as you put it in gear it will stall unless you give it a little throttle, but it will still stall if you only raise the idle speed. When it stalls, it acts just like switch was flipped. If I put the transmisison in neutral, the car will not stall.
Things I've done: Replaced spark plugs, cap, rotor, swapped with another 1406 carb, clean air cleaner, new fuel pump, cleaned fuel filter
Enigne: intital timing 8 degrees, 20-24 degrees with vacuum advance on manifold vacuum
21 in Hg vacuum at idle
I'm not really sure what the problem could be. I've been driving it around in this configuration for close to 10 years. Any help would be much appreciated. You know how you can get to your wits end with problems like these. Thank you.
