Will any set of Ford 9" gears fit in any Ford 9" carrier?

The 4.11's in my '68 (I purchased an assembled third member) are whining enough that they drown out the exhaust.

I was thinking about getting an OEM R&P set, but didn't want to order anything before pulling the third member if there was a chance the old school gears wouldn't work in my newer carrier.

The answer to that is yes.

Did you add a friction modifier to your rear end grease?

Most all aftermarket gears whine... Some worse than others. DO NOT run synthetic gear lube. According to the Detroit rep - it's TOO SLICK.

The GM 12 bolt splits the carrier at some point. Don't remember what that is but the gears have different thicknesses. But that's a GM issue not a FORD issue.

Thanks. I'm not using synthetic lube in the rear, nor have I added a friction modifier, but all the non-synthetics I can get locally have an LSD additive.
