What are you guys using? What size hole are you cutting in the trans tunnel? Any pictures would be greatly appreciated.

My trans came out of a 1999 Camaro, the factory shift boot came with the setup .

This is the best picture of the boot I have installed.

I had to bend the base of it to match my tunnel and then just ran sheet metal screws into the floor to hold it in place.

Regarding the hole, I took my shifter off and taped up the hole in the trans, then lifted the trans up into position and scribed a line on the tunnel just around the outside of the square shifter mounting pad.

Lowered the trans, marked the four corners from the bottom and cut them out from the top. There was just enough room for the baseplate of the shifter to come up through the floor.

Also had to hammer up an area to clear for the reverse lockout solenoid.

Seig- Did you run any type of rubber boot on yours to keep exhaust/dust/rain out?

I would like to keep it as low profile as possible because I dont plan to run a center console. Im thinking im just going to run a lokar shift boot screwed directly to the floor but we will see.

I sewed up a vinyl cover for now since I have a console. The Lokar may be your one of your better options.

I've had this thought in my head as well. OE stuff typically runs a boot at the floorpan and then another at the shifter and i've been on the look out for something to use on my builds. I may do some looking in the OE world and If I find something I'll post up!

Brian just posted up a new one and it look's like one of the better options I've seen.
