I recently installed the hotchkis front coil springs on my 68 Camaro and found a great deal on some tubular upper and lower control arms. Since I will be replacing the control arms and need some quality shocks I have decided to sell the hotchkis springs and switch to the qa1 coil overs so I can adjust ride height and get a good shock all at one time. My question is should I run the small block springs or step up to the big block springs due to their higher spring rates. The car is a small block, aluminum head, intake and w/p with power steering. Anybody have any suggestions on which to use or ones they a have used.

This month's feature car has The QA1 coilovers. Some people have said the big block springs higher spring rate also come with a higher ride height. I have also heard that Global West has 500lb springs available but I don't see them on their web site. Try doing a search also you may find what you need.

Yea global west does have shorter 500lb springs. They are not on thier web site and I am not even sure if they are in their catalog but I do know they have them. I bought some last week and love them. Someone said the qa1 springs work well with an LS1 in the nose since they are around 200lb lighter. The global west springs let you have a firmer performance feel and a low ride height. I didnt know they had them eather and I stop in from time to time because I live close to them. I was not satisfied with the qa1 springs so I was very happy when they told me they made them.

The BB springs made my car with the LS1 sit too high. So I went with SB springs. I'd say go for the SB springs if you are running a SB.
