Anyone experienced the fabrication of a bespoke windshield for a custom projet ?

I guess it would need to come with some "DOT" approved mark to avoid registration issue.

I'm wondering if the cost for just one-off piece would be acceptable.

"Bespoke"? I don't comprehend .

Curved or flat. Flat = easy, curved = $$$$$

I mean curved glass, tempered for automotive use. In Europe it seems to be insane expensive. I'm wondering if in US it's more affordable....

It may be easier to simply find one that is similar in size and appearance to what you want from an alternate car.

I've had side windows done, it's expensive for those so a windshield would undoubtably be insanely expensive.

It's very expensive to have"compound curved" glass made and laminated. Front glass is not tempered, it's laminated (for impact) so when it's hit, it doesn't fly into the cab. Find one that's close, ans have it sanded down, or make the body too fit. Tempered glass cannot be altered once its tempered.

SOLID advice right there.^^^^

Figure out a basic size range you can work in, make a cardboard template and walk through some junkyards. If you can get in the ballpark, you'll be miles ahead of the game to cut out the A-pillars and as much sheetmetal surrounding the glass as possible. If you need it shorter or narrower, but it has the right curve, you can trim it and the sheetmetal the same way you would with a chop-top but at least you'll have a part # for glass that is available and reference to more sheetmetal if necessary.

Here in Finland is a company that makes custom glass for cars. I know for a fact that some of the top (old scool)custom bilders from States order glass from there.

They dont have wedsite, been oldschool also but company is
