hey, I was wondering if anyone else has had a problem with oxidation or a white foggy substance that shows up on the primer after you wash it. I have a hot rod satin black primer. I painted my chevelle and never had any of these problems but on this car it always gets worse every time I paint it.

Can you explain in detail what you're trying to do? What kind of primer you're using?

I painted my car with hot rod black primer from napa. and I used the same stuff on my chevelle and it worked great. On the firebird it gets a white foggy substance that wont go away everytime I wash it. And only the parts that the sun is hitting gets it. Ive tried just water without soap and it still does it.

You can't expect primer to serve as topcoat ,especially if it's not catalyzed lacquer based primer .

UV breakdown of surface chemicals. Most primers aren't UV resistant. On top of that rattle can primers usually aren't waterproof....they're porous for a reason. Epoxy primer is the only primer that is waterproof I am aware of.I painted my car with hot rod black primer from napa. and I used the same stuff on my chevelle and it worked great. how do I get that foggy substance off before I do this. Should I use a clay bar? or really fine sand paper?
