I graduated early at 16, so I did not get to drive much in High School.

But it was a 1965 Chrysler 4 door Newport....Haha:getout:

Right after I graduated, I got a 1970Camaro SS 4 speed with Bias Ply Tires...

Mustang GT killin' 1956 Bug with 2110 stroker motor. Ran low 13's on 165-15 radials. If I only knew then what I know now I could have made a bunch of money with that car. I would be willing to bet it would have went well in to the 11's with traction.

I got my license on Dec. 5. 1971 exactly 6 months to the day I turned 16. I had a 66 Chevelle SS ( I put more mile pushing it than driving. ) , I had the SS until April 19, 1972 when I found my first love 69 X33 Z/28 red with black stripes, console with gauges and dash tach and spoilers 16,000 miles for $2200 plus the Chevelle. I proceeded to abuse here for 2 years. until she left me. :bang:

when i lived in california in the mid 80's and was going to american motorcycle school, one of my buddies had a newport. he cut a hole in the back seat so you could reach right into the trunk. we would hit 3 or 4 hotels empty the ice machines into the trunk, fill it with 9 or 10 cases of beer then go on a road trip for the weekend, to what ever motorsport event was going on that weekend, we were piss broke so it was old Milwaukee and sneaking into all the races, events, etc. every day after school we would hit the bar with the best happy hour food for dinner, with 1 draft beer, talk about cheap living. dayum those were some fun times. lol

Them was fun times...

I did have an X1/9 after High school where we could pull the floor plugs in the front compartment and fit a 15 gallon Keg in it and go to the drive in movies...The front 1/8 panels, not 1/4 panles because the car was too small, would frost up from the Ice...

I went in to go pee and when I came out ,my friends had turned the car sideways between the speakers..

I am sure we were obnoxious and wrecked the movie for others..

That same night I went to Jail for a DUI and they found another friend in the gutter in front of his house...1979....Them was the days...

1965 Ford Mustang w/ straight 6 (170 cu.in.- a whopping 101hp) 3 speed stick on the floor, cost $350. The car had no carpeting in it. So I went down to the local carpeting store and picked up some green "shag" carpeting. That was my first ever, modification to a car. Life was very simple back in 1973.

My first ride was a 1962 Ford Van with a 289 engine… and 3 speed column shift. I primmered it, added some nice seats, and a new stereo system. I remember cruising around listening to Ted Nugent “Cat Scratch Fever”, Foghat “Slow Ride” and stuff like that… good music and fun times in the 70’s :D (class of '77).

I had 2 modes of transportation as well..... a yellow International with black stripes and Reebok.

It's funny how getting caught at 14 yrs old riding a Yamaha YZ 125 on public roads makes a Judge feel that you should wait until you are 18 before you get to drive legally. It seems the evasion part is what put it over the top.....and the weed.....and the property destruction......the spitting......biting....:bitchslap:

Then my Dad sold my Vega project to make a payment on the fines. He probably did me a favor. I swear when sitting in that car with my hooligan friends, partaking in the hemp and some stolen alcoholic beverages, you could hear it rusting.

Great thread first car at 15 was a 1970 camaro rs bought with a locked up motor and a smashed front fender second car was a 1957 gmc pickup next was a 1968 dodge charger with a tunnel ram and two fours this proved to be a not so good choice reckless driving, unnessasary excellaration like there is such a thing?and lots more tickets, then 74 blazer,73 camaro,67 chevelle,77 amc hornet wagon,2 chevettes, and a 73 chevelle. so looking at that now I can see maybe my car addiction was worse than I thought.LOL. all these were in high school.never had a garage to work on any of them just outside in a gravel driveway.

Before I got my license my grandparents gave me a 1976 Mazda Cosmo.
http://www.mazdacosmo.com/photo-gallery/
13B rotary (the big rotary) with a 4 barrel carb and automatic. The apex seals in the rotor tips stuck, no compression, and I had to replace the engine before I ever got to drive it. Those rotary engines were so weird. All my buddies couldn't believe it had a tach that went up to 10,000 RPM from the factory.

When I sold that, I bought a 1967 Camaro, hugger orange/white rally stripes on a cowl induction hood, 327, Carter AFB, M20 Muncie and 3.73 Posi. Drove that thru graduation, High School and 4-1/4 years of college. While I was in college the 327 was swapped with a BBC 408 (.060 over 396). Wheel hop with that BBC was wicked, even with slapper bars that thing pounded the rear end. :burnout:

When one of those two cars were dead, I drove a white, 3/4-ton 1969 GMC long bed camper special, 350, 4 barrel and a turbo 400.

Replaced or rebuilt every engine in those before I graduated college.

I had a Mazda RX2. Used to womp on my buddy's SBCs believe it or not. That thing would burn rubber in every gear. The motor lasted 18 months. In 12th grade I bought my sister a Vega and traded her straight up for her 70 Camaro. Put a built 350, mags and exhaust in it and that was what started it all for me.

Shared a White 75 L82 auto Corvette with my older brother when I first got a license and finished high school with my own 78 Silver Anniversary Corvette..

Back then we (as a family) had a sweet deal going with a car dealer my dad helped out and the whole family pretty much drove new cars for about 10 months,, flipped through a few courtesy cars,, and then got some of the very early release cars the following year as he was a big dealer up here in Ontario at the time.... We even made money driving them if you can imagine.... It was my job to sell off all the cars every year and the money just kept rolling over into new ones basically as the upside sale price covered the new order price generally...

I had a couple of members ony jackets, but my favorite was the jacket my girlfriend, now wife, had made for me like the nylon high school jackets. This one had Chevelle on it instead of the school. Yes, it is still in the closet.

^ that's hilarious Mario!

Edit: I had a member's only jacket too! :D

Ron I here ya this car couldn't get out of its own way!! 180hp look out!!:D

That's cool man. My wife and I were only married a few months and she was driving a Hyundai. I found the Vette in pretty good shape and bought it for her to drive everyday instead of the econobox. Didn't realize a 15 year old Vette with 100k wasn't really the "best" daily driver rain, shine or snow!! LOL! Still miss it tho, it would've been cool with my powerplant!! LOL!
