View Full Version : Another Hot Rod....

After seeing this lil hot rod in person I gotta tell you, it's perfect! Not damn near, not really nice or kinda cool, it's perfect. Just the right amount of chrome, the paint looks a mile deep, hell the mauve interior works!
Never did hear it running but that LS looks right at home in the engine bay. I know Brizio doesn't build crap but this hot rod is so basic and clean that it puts it over the top! I say you just by Gwen her BMW and keep this one for yourself.
Nicely done Greg, the right builder and a perfect little hot rod!
Dan
How do you go from driving this back to the RPOS?

Thanks Dan!
I like the little red POS now that it all got fixxexededed up. It's a real nice car now! I might change the wheels and tires on it after seeing these that I had built for the '33....
You shoulda jumped in the rig and headed to Texas Motor Speedway with me! LOL
Just arrived here --- parked on the infield --- just WOW is all I have to say about that!

Trust me Greg, I was looking for a spot to stowaway! I can see why you travel to these events, the cars and action are great but its the people that made the event for me.
I was joking with the guys that I'm now best friends with Popp! Before going out on the road course he said "hey bud, could you buckle up the belts on the passenger side for me?" After springing into action he said "thanks, I appreciate it" I'm expecting a call any day now for a full time position! :bitchslap:
Have fun in Texas and try not to slop any BBQ on the interior of "her" car.

My wife says if I ever leave her that the
Pantera has her name on the registration and she loves it...
as if I would ever leave her.. it took too much time to figure
out one woman.. not going to do it again
Any other time it is too loud, uncomfortable and smells
Now the Firebird was a junker 26 years ago and when I
registered it she was out of town so no name there
So that is really my car.. at least I say it is:)

When she gets it -- it WILL BE perfect.
I'm having Don Hardy Jr dyno it (he's here in Texas)... and there's already a tail light out... and the driver window glass needs adjusting... and Phil (The Roadster Shop) was here and told me about some top adjustments...
So "maybe" the Good-Guys Pleasanton show..... and then back to Brizio until she gets it in June. I don't want the Lotus leaking on it.... :>)

Baja Cantina.. my favorite event of the year
The Thursday night before the Historics, Italiano and Pebble
Park the Pantera and get out and walk down two cars
and the Hemisphere is parked there. another year a real
Daytona coupe pulls up and parks.. sold later in the weekend
Every kind of car imaginable pulls up or passes thru
So the Brizo ride weighs 2900lbs plus.. I was thinking
more like 2500.. All steel, maybe heavier to make
it ride better

Okay --- The motor (LS3) was built by Don Hardy / Don Hardy Junior --- the father and son team "EX" drag racing legend...
http://www.hotrod.com/thehistoryof/113_0205_don_hardy/
It has a "extremely" restrictive intake and shorty little tube headers. The motor WAS NOT BUILT to make a bunch of crazy ass horsepower but rather - be very drivable for my darling bride. The car weighs in a exactly 2975 pounds so doesn't require too much to get it scootin' right along.... just ask Chris Gonzales.... HAHAHAHAHAHA
This was the only power pull I videoed ---- and the blue smoke was due to it being PIG FAT.... that all cleared right up in subsequent pulls. Advanced Motor Performance did the tuning --- and they only work on big HP LS stuff.... like 1500 twin turbo Vettes -- and several 750 to 900 hp late model Camaro's and CTS V's.... that's all they had in their shop. AMP is located in Arlington Texas....

A WORLD of difference in running and the sound even changed.
As I told "Sam" ---- "dude! It's lazy and my guess is it's pig fat"....... OH YEAH --- it was pig fat -- and it ain't lazy now. Nice torque right off idle... rev's very quickly.
He also tuned the transmission to the drivetrain/gears/tall tires.... put the lockup to kick in at 50 MPH. Nice difference in holding the car in 3rd gear under that. Much mo snappy. But not stupid... My '32 gets a little stupid quick in the lower gears -- but it's running 4:30 rear gears and a 5 speed and the 8 stack... which is very quick throttle response.
If we'd left room for a "performance" intake and put some real headers on this one --- and changed the rear end gearing (it now has 3:57) it'd be scary. I don't want scary for Gwen. Quick and sporty is okay... and it's very linear.

No Steve --- the one hose that was run from the VC to the back of the air filter housing was all that was needed according to Sam at AMP. They did everything correctly and no changes where made to the physical install.

It left Brizio's yesterday for a photo shoot in LA...
Gwen will see it (learn about it) for the first time on June 12th at 7AM when we show up at his shop... to drive it (along with 20+ other Brizio builds) to the L A Roadsters Show in Pomona... then we'll leave there and cruise up California 1 to the Carmel / Monterey area... spend a couple days messing around there. Then finally bring it home.

I ASSume that they'll be available thru Andy's T's (his Dad's company) -- or directly thru Brizio Street Rods.

She saw the car at Brizio's on Wednesday afternoon. Loaded it up and drove it Thursday to LA with the Bay Area roadster club. About 35 cars.
It's now parked at the fairgrounds with 20 or so other Brizio cars.

We had a great time! Great hot rods. Great people. The L A Roadster club is first class. My buddy John Kiley (Pres of the club) just runs it so smoothly. I heard there were 900+ roadsters..... My son Alex came up from redondo beach and spent the weekend. He's FINALLY gaining an appreciation for fine hot rods and now wants to build a '37 to '39 Ford pick up...

So #1 -- Gwen LOVES her new '33 regardless of what Charley says... Maybe he'd be happier if he'd just go have his own built. LOL
So when I had the car at Laguna Seca for the USCA event (shake down miles before she got her first drive) --- on the tour portion of that event - we stopped for lunch at The Baja Cantina in Carmel Valley -- and I snapped off a couple of cell phone pics of the car sitting in front. I then commissioned Kenny Youngblood to do a painting of the pic I took. So this is a pic of his PAINTING.....
You guys that are on Instagram have already seen this - but I wanted to share with those that are not on there.

So here's Gwen seeing the car at Brizio's for the first time -- of course she's moving so I couldn't get a decent picture...

So this was all planned so that we could pick up the car - leave our normal car at the shop - and drive to the L A Roadster show with the Bay Area Roadster Club - and a group of Brizio built cars... about 35 of us all together. This really made the trip fun and we had some stops along the way which was all planned by the BAR group.

Left there (Carmel and Monterey area) and headed back to the Briz's shop... after a stop at Canepa -- and Sid Chavers to have the seat rebuilt --- it doesn't fit HER at all... (what happens when you're just guessing!)....

No -- we've been together for 42 years - and I've been doing car stuff even longer than that.... and she's done quite a few things car related. She's just never been into it that much. I have to make it "special" --- like this trip... where we did some car stuff - and then some Gwen stuff... Where most of us can just do all car and nothing else and be happy as little clams.
Or like racing at Laguna the day after Thanksgiving.... we did Thanksgiving with the kids there -- and it's a beautiful area - so a little car tossed in is fine.
Well - to be perfectly honest - it makes it a hell of a lot easier when you don't have to shop the vacuum cleaner aisle. LOL

Thanks Lenie! I feel the very same way -- this was all about her.... and we had a great time in a great car.
Sid will make it more comfortable for her to drive after we stopped by his shop for some consultation and fit up. And Briz is going to replace the Vega steering box... this one is punked (even though it's brand new)... which made Hiway 1 a lot of work... but cruising a nice hot rod up that Hiway ain't all bad regardless.

We left it at Brizio's on our way back up the coast from LA. The Seat needed to be completely re-done in order to fit Gwen. She's taller than I am - and her height is considerably longer from the waist down -- and we just didn't guess close enough to what the seat needed to be to fit her. So it went back over to Sid Chavers today as a matter of fact - and he'll make the seat over. Then we also are going to replace the steering box. The steering was heavy and didn't have the "return to center" that it should have. Roy and I had discussed this before the LA trip and I had asked him just to leave it alone and let me put some more miles on the car before they went to the effort to R&R it -- and of course it's painted etc. But after putting on 1000 miles -- it never felt any better. He had an original Vega box - and was having that completely rebuilt before installing it. Seems they've been having the same issues with the manufactured versions as this isn't the first goat rodeo with these new boxes. They probably all come out of the same Chinese factory.
I'll pick the car up on September 1st when I head that direction for the Shelby Club Mini-Nat track event at Sonoma. And if all is right with the world I'll haul it back to Sun Valley.
Then at the end of September - we're signed up to drive it on the Good-Guys Haul (the way they should have spelled it!) of Fame Road Tour from Pleasanton California to Fort Worth Texas.
https://www.good-guys.com/goodguys-road-tour
At that time there is a stop planned in Colorado @ Pinkee's Rod Shop where my '40 Ford pickup should be sitting on it's freshly built Roadster Shop chassis.

So after the trip from the Bay Area to the LA Roadsters show -- and then up California Hiway 1... we dropped the roadster off at Brizio's with a punch list of "to do's". This is perfectly normal for a brand new build - and the car now had over 1000 miles on it.
The first thing to fix was the steering box -- it was just too stiff and didn't return to center. Coming up the coast hiway was a lot of work as it took far too much effort to turn the car. We had discussed this issue before I left and Roy wanted to replace the Vega box but I said to just wait and see if this one would loosen up. It didn't.
The new original Vega box was sent out for a complete rebuild - painted and installed and the steering is now 100% perfect.
The top needed some adjusting -- and the owners of American Speed came over during the show (LA) and discussed with Sid Chavers and Roy exactly where to tweak what... the top now fits 100% perfect.
A complete new seat was built... which is wonderful and now fits Gwen really well. I had Sid make a pad that looks like the upholstery to go behind my back when I want to drive. Perfect!
The BEST ADDITION OF ALL.... new RideTech shocks on the front and CoilOvers on the rear (all polished and gleaming!). I can't tell you how much better the car rides!! Thank you BRET!! You are THE MAN! The car was a bit "harsh" before with the usual "hot rod" shocks on it. Now - it's like silk. Harshness is all gone and it rides like a really nice hot rod should. It's "firm" but compliant and smooth... hard to describe - but here's the tell. GWEN said - "it rides better" the first time she drove it --- and she knew nothing about the shock change. BINGO!! XOXO buddy!
There was hot air coming in from the motor/trans from the console area... a simple "oops" because the way the console sits on the floor it wasn't sealing out the air even though the boot was proper. A simple fix was to put a boot on the floor/shift lever... and then install the nice console with it's pretty leather boot. Another home run BINGO.
The speedo was "sticky" -- turns out the hole in the dash was a smidge too tight... FIXED and another BINGO...
The PCV was leaking just a couple drops of oil... I HATE OIL LEAKS... fixed! The fix was to install a catch can and K&N filter... ALL FIXED.
After paint - the windows were installed so that they disappeared down in the door too far... that caused an ugly sound when shutting the doors with the windows down. The fix was just to re-adjust them so that the top of the window is held with the weatherstrip... Trust me when I tell you -- these doors open and close better than a Rolls Royce. Every time I use them - I'm amazed. It's a tactile feel and sound that just says HOLY CRAP THIS THING IS A BEAUTY.
We raised the nose of the car an inch and a half. You can not tell this from looking at it... but it will keep us from having to be so careful going over small humps and bumps. This is no show car -- this is a driver.... we just want to be able to use it comfortably.
The car runs like a swiss watch... a little too perfect for me - but it's Gwen's car and she's happy as hell with it. It drives great - runs flawlessly - is smooth... yet sounds like a hot rod.... and now the seat fits her! It's all good.

Nice to see it get all sorted out without the drama. If Roy drove the car after the Ridetech install I'm sure he's changing the way his cars leave the building. A buddy switched from the Pete&Jakes to Bilstein and just like Gwen's it was night and day, much mo betta!

The car is pure "Brizio". There's a very good reason he builds multiple cars for return clients year after year. They put a big fat smile on your face. The fit - the finish - the way things work... the way they drive. The guy has it down pat. You hit bumpy roads in this car - nothing rattles - nothing squeaks - it just goes "thump thump". It's something about the cars he builds that are just different yet they're no big deal - they're usually not customized much in the way of body mods etc... they're really mostly pretty "normal" -- but driving them is a whole different story. They just work. I guess that's why so many of his builds are driven so many miles. His personal hot rod has 75,000 miles on it. And his Dad Andy is legendary for leading trips to Columbus or back east... People aren't afraid to drive them... and once you have - you understand why.
I'm really looking forward to our trip to Texas... and Gwen is already trying to figure out how to pack for it. That's a good sign right there.

Good thoughts. His group of guys make a pretty good living... he treats them right and most everyone has been with him for years and years. They're all hot rodders themselves... and when you do something well for years, I think you get even better at it. If you'd have watched Jim building my brake lines and fuel lines all while chatting with me... in a matter of an hour and a half he was DONE - and they were perfect. He made the reference marks and bends without even thinking. Half the time I make a mark and then promptly bend the tube in the exact opposite direction it needed to go. LOL
Is that where "Andy's picnic" came from?
That's a different event. That is his car show that he's been putting on for 40 years. His cruises are legendary - thus the RODFATHER moniker. He started these road tours back in 1970.

I was at the Sheraton bar in Pomona last year and he was sitting next to me, enjoying a drink. I didn't know who he was (I'd never seen his picture) but I started talking to him and even after he introduced himself as "Roy" it still didn't click. Lot's of people were walking by and saying hi to him and I knew he built cars, but I still didn't know just who he was. My coworker came in and was thrilled to meet him, then I knew who I'd been talking to for 15 minutes. Of all the builders I've met he's one of the most genuine and accessible out there.

Actually the money will cost too much after he borrows
From charley then loans it to you
Kinda like our banks who get it almost
Free from the government and then jack the prices
up with all kinds of BS conditions etc
When you don't need money they want to loan it
but if you do need it then they make it difficult
Not like the old days where they really wanted to help you
and actually acted like a bank
Better off financing yourself

I'm able to borrow all the money I'd never need.... at usually less than 2%.... And I agree with you. If you don't need the money it's easily accessible....
Banks were never there to help you. They were there to make money off you lending you someone else's money and making the spread.
I think the banks changed when people changed. It used to be that PEOPLE WANTED to pay their debts.... now they just want everything and if they screw the bank and keep the stuff - they think they're smart.
My ex partner used to sum it up ==== The only people that ever screwed me - where the ones I trusted.
Simple enough... you only ever opened credit up to those you thought you could trust. Sometimes they screwed you. The guy you never trusted - was never given the chance.

I just got off the phone with Mister Brizio.... seems they finally came up with a fix and found some reasons the '33 was overheating. As it turns out - Ed Pink was also in on the fix! For those of you that are unfamiliar with Ed Pink - I feel sorry for you... go look him up.
So -- several things stacked up to be an overall issue. Not necessarily in the order of fault.
The upper radiator hose was taken DOWN under the fan motor and then back up to the radiator. This looked like and acted like a plumbing "P trap"... Add to this that the "U" bend to make the P part was metal tubing - and it was attached via a bracket to the fan to hold it... As the motor heated up -- this caused "movement" albeit slowly - but enough - to put torque on the fan housing causing the blade to engage the housing... slowing the fan. You wouldn't hear this driving - and it had worn a considerable groove in the housing. Probably during the first few outings - so the interference was there but without any "clicking" to tip you off.
Now then -- enter mister Ed Pink -- since the Brizio crew was still having the overheating issue even after finding the P trap / fan issue and replacing those parts of the problem.... Ed had seen the car and we'd spent time together at the LA Roadster show... He stopped by the shop when visiting San Francisco and, seeing it back at the shop, asked "why". When told why - he said he'd run into a similar problem before -- and asked if there was an overflow/catch can in the system since he couldn't see one. There was none... and he said that he had fixed a similar problem by simply adding one. Seems without this - the engine sucks in air - and then creates hot spots... They added one - and the problem is solved.
Now it's off to Sid Chavers to replace the lower seat leather where I punctured it when I sat down with a side cutter in my back pocket - during one of the many in and outs starting the car when I was trying to solve the problem before taking it back to Brizio. DOH! WTF.... it keeps people employed... whatever... I'm over it. LOL

I guess that is why Ed Pink is so good. Never in a million years would it dawn on me that a catch can would aid in a heating issue.

It was left off because it's a packaging issue with the nose being so pinched on these cars... it's just tight as hell up there... and we never used to have to have them. Today every car has them but I would have thought that was an EPA type rule.

You know -- I don't know that I'd characterize it as simple. Roy said they discovered the movement of the upper radiator hose by accident - and then looked further into it and noticed the fan blade contact "witness" mark. I might have torn the heads off the motor before I ever figured it out and had the block x-rayed... LOL
Going for complicated over simple... like most of us do!
The stupid part is that of all the things that can go wrong with a motor like the LS with all the drive by wire - and ECM's and relays and harness and blah blah blah... the last thing I'd think would become an issue is the cooling system. And what brought it to the forefront was that the car sat idling for several minutes - thus ZERO air movement being forced thru the radiator... and it needed ALL of the fan CFM to stay in control. And again -- all of my "testing" was done inside the shop with no air movement. I could have used my big (36") fan in front of the engine but I was trying to test the cooling system so I didn't want to have any artificial cooling aids. Thus the problem repeated itself over and over.
Funnier yet is that I had commented to Roy that his fan "sucked" earlier... it was noisy... but then I also knew that with just the single smallish fan - it would have to have healthy CFM numbers and when they're moving lots of air - that makes noise. Little did I know that some of the noise was the blade pounding the housing and that friction causing the motor to work harder. It NEVER sounded like a fan blade hitting anything.
Now I guess that with the motor running "hot" - the cool down side of things must have brought in ever more air to the system exacerbating the whole "burping" / "steam venting" thing.

Roy Brizio called and asked if I'd like a join a small group of guys and head down to Austin Texas for the Lonestar Round Up... I asked Gwen if she was interested - and of course, she was, since our daughter lives in Austin.... Lucky for us the '33 was already at Roy's shop waiting for me to pick it up... so we flew to SF and picked up the fully detailed '33 (I had to laugh because Roy said he's spent $1000 having the car detailed after every time I drop it off there).
We departed Andersons Pea Soup right on schedule with about 15 or so cars. Roy Brizio and friend Tami - Andy and Sue Brizio (The Godfather) in their 32 (Andy is 83) - Sid Chavers - Darryl and Terri Hollenbeck (painted our '33) in their brand spankin' new '32 - Scott Hawley in his '32 Fordor... Dennis Varni (a member of the 200 and 300 MPH Bonneville club)... and several others. First day was short as we were only going to Redlands --- but we took off the interstate - and had a very nice drive thru some countryside.... next day we pounded I-10 to Tucson... where Gwen and I have friends so we split off and did cocktails at their place. The usual departure time is 7AM - so day 3 - we're off for El Paso... a longer day but so far the trip is going as planned and by now we've picked up John Mumford in his 32 coupe and Tom Gloy in his yellow '36 Cabriolet - and a few others along the way.... Diner in El Paso was about 40 or so people -- and to all of our surprise the whole thing was picked up by the President of MSD! What a gracious and unexpected "nicety"!
Day 4 was supposed to be a stop at Sonora, Texas but a buddy and I discussed the fact that it was only 200 more miles to Austin -- so we punched on thru and skipped this stop altogether.
The weather thru New Mexico and into Texas was COLD for the folks in the roadsters!! Wow was I happy Gwen's '33 has a top and side windows and a heater!! When you're 80+ and cruising with either no top and no windows or just a top and no windows... You are one tough rodder!!! We had 4 guys on the trip that were 80 or more! Talk about diehard hot rodders! Trust me when I tell you these cars ain't that comfortable for long days behind the wheel.
One of the guys in a '40 Ford had a U-Joint going out - and luckily he had a spare with him. At a lonely spot in the Texas "weeds" - we stopped for fuel - and when getting back on the highway he spotted a sign that said "Drivelines"... he and Roy stopped there - and in 35 minutes they had a new U Joint....
At a couple of the stops I noticed the temp creeping up quickly -- but lucky for me - the stops were just for some gas and a pit stop -- and then we'd be right back on the road and the temp would never budge. Coming into Austin though - we hit normal city traffic and the temp began to be uncomfortable... the fan seemed to be working intermittently -- or not at all -- and then would roar to life and the temp would drop - only to go back up - like a yoyo. Hummmmmmm Go figure. Roy and I pulled the side panel off when they all arrived in Austin and we couldn't see anything wrong. Thinking it might be a failing relay he had the shop overnight a replacement. The next morning I go out to the car - fire it up and the fan works like a charm.... hmmmmmm... weird. I shut it off - only to go back in the afternoon to try it again - and NO FAN. Okay -- this is goofy. Roy and I pull the side panel and start looking at wire connections and the fan comes on and goes off - or runs slowly... obviously there's an issue with the wiring and a quick investigation and the nose piece pulled off - reveals a loose ground! That explains the whole problem. 1 minute later it's fixed....
The car ran great - is a joy to drive... and comfortable for what it is.
Gwen had torn her ACL 5 weeks ago while hiking at home.... and had been nursing it along to see if she could do without surgery. Well -- while walking from the hotel to diner - she and Adrienne (our daughter) decide they're going to climb up on a lifesize Willie Nelson statue - and the knee comes apart. Now she can't walk at all without the knee going wonky - and we're blocks from the hotel - and she is NOT doing well... so off to the ER we go... some examination and a "immobilizer" and crutches and pain meds -- and she's now hobbling/hopping/struggling all weekend. UGH.
The show was 100% "rat rods" -- which was a surprise to all that traveled on this journey --- and I think "we" were the only painted cars in the show (of about 2000 hot rods!!). But the show was fun - with live music and fun people etc.
Last night (Saturday night) SW invites us to join him over on South Congress street -- where the car show has "moved" to (unofficially). The streets are lined for as far as you could see on both sides of the road - with hot rods! How fun! This street is fun to begin with - but now we have killer restaurants and bars and cars! We sit outside on the outdoor patio and order some food and drinks and Adrienne and SW are "on edge" about a predicted storm heading our way... Next thing Adrienne's phone issues a Severe Thunderstorm warning - and we start to see flashes of lightening --- and the trees start to rustle.... I'm thinking - 'big whoop' - but in a matter of seconds the night went from fun to utter chaos!! The rustling tree leaves went into full on wind storm and the sky opened up and dumped BUCKETS of rain and hail! The completely packed patio was emptied in nanoseconds as people rushed for any cover they could find!! LOL I managed to give Gwen the roller derby elbow technique as she reached for her crutches and by god I beat her to the restaurant door! SW, being the good Texan he is - stayed back to help her.... HAHAHAHAHAHA Oh man!
Anyway - we had a great server who managed to round us all up and served our dinner at the bar. What a hoot!
I can only imagine the mess this made out of the cars parked on the street -- and by the time we finished dinner the storm had moved thru the area leaving rivers of water... and the cars had vanished. I hope none were damaged.
We left the '33 at SW's to be shipped back to Brizio's shop (so we can go to the LA Roadsters Show mid June)... and I can't thank him enough for taking care of it for us. Next up is tracking at Thunderhill.... EEEEEEHHHHHAAAAAAWWWWWW.
Build 'em to drive and drive 'em! That's the most fun you can have with your cars. Get out there and do it!

Even had a little bit of hail on S Congress st during the storm.

WTF -- I never even got out to The Salt Lick!
Greg, last year six buddies and I were in Austin for MotoGP. We were there three full days and EVERY meal was eaten at a BBQ joint. I would skip Salt Lick. It's great for West Coast bbq but really fell short of expectations in all of our opinion. Although the desserts were delicious and the help wasn't too bad either.
Make the drive to Kreuz Market (https://www.kreuzmarket.com/) in Lockhart. It's the best BBQ I have had in my entire life. "No Sauce, No Forks" is their credo and oooohwheeee is it worth it! I got a pork chop that was about three inches thick and half a pound of brisket. One of the guys ordered a pound of brisket, then went back for another half pound. Just insanely good food. When you walk in the FIRST front door it smells like a forest fire.
Dangit, now I am starving. It's all your fault, Greg!

The whole "The Salt Lick" thing is an inside joke -- from when a group of us from Lat G went to Austin for the V8 Supercar race.... and Bryan Cope (lives there) refused to take us there -- we all asked to go because it was the only one you hear about....
Closest thing I got to BBQ all week was a doggie bag of left overs from Lambert's - where we were walking to eat when Gwen tore the rest of her knee out - and we ended up missing the dinner. Adrienne brought me the doggie bag to eat in the ER.
With 20+ cars and about 35 people or so (herding cats) it was just hard to do much of anything in an organized way.... and we tended to just spend more time with Adrienne and her friends on this trip. Since she's in Chefs school there - she saves up all the cool places for Mom and Dad to take her... $$$$$$ LOL

Great story GW.
I never have much to say.....
Nice write up Greg and sounds like alot of fun....Hope your wifey does better soon and post some pics when ya can.....Hope to see ya at t-hill
I can't thank you enough for the fair warning!! LOL I really can hardly wait to hit the road and get the "new and improved" Suttonstang sorted. BTW, asking Sutton questions will cost YOU $125 per hour... bring some cash.
Sounds like a blast of a road trip, minus the ER trip of course... once Gwen recovers put her in that Mustang so we can all see what that car is capable of please. Thanks.
#1 -- ER's are scary!! I happened to be wearing one of my nicer watches -- I took it off and shoved it in my pocket. The good news was - since we got there by ambulance -- they put her in a room right away. I couldn't figure out how to leave her (she's just about passing out) on the street while I went to get our only transportation (the '33) - get her in it - and find a hospital... so a call to 911 was it. I did tell them it was NOT an emergency.
#2 -- She'd go thru a set of tires per weekend on the Muttstang because she'd carry way more corner speed than me. F that! I get months out of a set.

Greg, sounds like a great time, minus the acl issue. I hope the video starring yourself on Instagram doesn't get you into too much trouble with the wifey.
Not the wife I'm worried about -- it's the folks that actually walk like that I'm concerned about. You know - being PC and all that.... Probably get death threats and a cease and desist letter from some organization.
Very very brave talk. :hairpullout:

Funny you mention that --- I was telling someone on this trip about "BBQ" and that you don't realize this process takes hours and hours.... That it's not like going to a regular restaurant where they cook to order --- and if they sell out - they're OUT! They can't possibly make more! She tore the ACL and meniscus 5 weeks or so ago hiking up Adams Gulch in knee deep snow without snowshoes... Then had to hike 3 miles to get out. Both Doctors here told her she may be able to do without the ACL and that she should try to just do physical therapy and see how she would get along. The original "breather" system on the '33 wasn't working very well.... On the San Francisco to Austin, Texas trip - I'd get little drips of oil from the filter - and it would blow back on "everything".
Since the car was being shipped back to Brizio's in SF for storage until we go out to drive it down for the LA Roadster Show.. I asked Roy to come up with a better solution. There's now TWO -8 AN lines (one from each valve cover) to a catch can mounted on the firewall - versus the ONE -6 AN line (from one valve cover) it used to be.
