Tyler, my 2nd grader at Timber Lakes Elemetary came home the other night with a flyer talking a mile a minute about a car show at his school!
And he wanted to know if "our" car could be in it... fast forward to this afternoon:

Right before Tyler got out of school...

My 4 year old, Mason, helping... I actually had to tell him to stop polishing the car!! LOL I rent him out cheap btw!

Ready for the show... looks like rain...

Rain in Florida in the afternoon? Who'da thunk it!

Despite the rain, we were rewarded with 1st Place & People's Choice award!!

Tyler kept turning on the lights to show off the Cobalt gauges to his buddies and telling them about the engine and how fast the car was in his opinion... and Mason had just as much fun telling everyone "this is my Daddy's car!" and giving them "the full tour" as he knew it!

It was REALLY COOL watching them get excited and being so involved!! From pre-show detailing to telling people about "their" car! What a great way to spend an afternoon with my boys!!

But isn't that what this is all about? :lateral:

That, my friend, is EXACTLY what it should be all about!

In their eyes - the car is BETTER THAN PERFECT in every way... and it's something they'll never forget. It's the baddest azz car in the entire UNIVERSE.

I remember - and we still talk about - the road trips done in my '67 BB Vette... each was 10 yeas old at the time (they're 4 years apart)... it's some of their fondest memories.

Come to think of it - if that's their fondest memories - maybe I wasn't such a great Dad. Well... that's a whole different thread.

I idled the car across the grass to the parking place and the little guy, Mason, starting giggling... I said "what's so funny buddy?"

He said, "All those guys just turned around and started watching us!"
"This is SO cool!"

I love how in every picture above he's busy buffing the car! Especially the first one where he's up on his tip toes to reach the trim on the back glass!

Like I said before... great way to spend the afternoon with my boys!!

And in their eyes this is the biggest trophy in the world! LOL

And just one Dad to another....

Remember that #1 finger now - won't be the same one he gives you when he's 16. But try to remember these good moments when that comes your way.

It's true though - huh Al....

Parenting isn't easy... and it's these good memories that gets you through those tough teenage years... and then they "come back to you" at about 18 or 19... and by 21 or so are actually kinda human. Ya just have to remember that, lest you go crazy. Daughters are way harder than Sons... Those whoremoans (spelling is mine) get going and then you have TWO of them in the house... OMG!! Just build a bigger shop and go there... never again return to the house for like 4 years (13 to 17 or so):willy:

I love these pics and stories because the memories of similar stuff just come flooding back...

Just a few miles (as the crow flies) from the track Steve! We can hear the test-n-tunes on Friday/Saturday nights from our back yard!

TLE is right off of Avalon Park Blvd on S. Crown Hill Blvd... across from the high school.
