I have never taken apart a multi piece wheel before, but I was thinking of making a color change to the center section of my rims. I have tried to get in touch with Fikse but had no luck with anyone calling me back. Any advice or input on doing this? Thanks.

Paul Van Nus painted the centers of his Fikses. I'm not sure what the process was, but you might want to get a hold of him at Dutchboy Restorations.

I just did a set, followed this video from CCW. Used the torque specs from my wheel manufacturer. Best part is.....it worked the first time!!

I'm sure the video above covers everything. But in general. Remove the tires. Unbolt all the inside nuts. Cut the silicone to separate the 2 half's of the barrel. I believe the face can now be removed.

I hope its some other form of black because those look great as they are.

Thanks for the links. I wonder if you have to re-do the silicone after the center is unbolted or if you can just remove the center and leave the center hoops together.

The barrel has to come apart to get the wheel out. I disassembled my FM5's and this was the case anyway. If I was home I'd take some pictures of them apart so you could see but I am away from the house.

I like the way they look now. Only issue with black anodizing is in the sun some of them have been known to turn purple...Ask me how i know :(

Like Jason said. I just did my fikses and didn't remove tires or split the wheel halves.
With all the bolts out, the center won't just fall out. Take a dead blow and lightly tap around it and they will fall right out.
Then when you put them back together just red loctite and torque to your specs.

Anyone know what the torque specs are for Fikse wheels?
