Some how i missed the updated pics. Waaaay nice dude!!!!

So, if the muttstang and camaro reside next to each other in the garage, will they get along? or will one of them just not start or move mysteriously?

Anyways, the rendering is one of my fave's, but the color combo won't be that?

Which rendering are you looking at? The grey and red one, or the white and blue one?

I guess its time for an update after a couple hundred some hours of body work and paint prep. this last month has been a great experience, of, once again learning why custom stuff takes so long. I'm thinking 10X the cost of a "bolt on" parts.

I had to make the bottom part of the rear bumper as well as build some lines to transition from the quarter extensions. Fun.

Jon pretty much sanded his ass off for a month and a half straight to get the car ready for paint, before heading back home to Hawaii.

Ok, now for colors! I've probably been driving myself, and everyone I know, crazy trying to find a white and blue that I think works together to create a vintage feel like the original Wimbledon White/Guardsman Blue cars. the '65 GT350s are iconic cars, and I think we can all close our eyes and imagine what they look like, which is great, but wimbledon white actually looks kind old, dirty, and brown in person, especially on an entire car. I never realized a lot of the newer whites lean towards a grayish, greenish tint, which isn't what I was looking for, so we did a couple spray outs and picked this color on the right of the test panel. It's just a tiny bit less brown, and a little brighter than Wimbledon white, which was the original color of the car, BTW.

Time for a few more photos!

Louvres are finished! and we are never making another set again. between everyone at the shop, we probably have close to 100hrs in the pair. They bolt on and off and look exactly like a factory type part, but different, haha.

I assembled the front valance today, with its aluminum radiator ducting box, brake ducts, and fog lights.

sure thing! I'll try and remember to snap a few shots before it all goes together. it is an overly complicated system though. I basically decided I wanted a ram air setup to gain a few horsepower and have a cool symmetrical engine bay, and that meant using a lower wider radiator, which gets its airflow almost entirely from the bottom grille.

Thanks Wayne! The credit all goes to Jon and DJ for the paint and polish. Jon got everything as close to ready as possible while he was out, and DJ spent a little extra time on a few spots before shooting the color and and color sanding and polishing it up.

For an old cream colored white car, it is really shiny!

Thank you guys! It was really fun putting it together with Dick this week. You can never really tell what kind of attitude the car is going to have until all of the lights, wheels, and trim go on! The goal was to build a car where all of the exterior modifications blended together, to create something different without any stand out parts. Basically, if Chevy guys can tell it isn't stock but can't tell what is different on the body, we've accomplished our goal  There is actually no billet on the exterior of the car, which is almost un pro touring, and almost no modern styling cues. When we finally stood back and looked at it on Thursday, or Friday, it looked so clean, I was a bit worried it wouldn't hold a candle to many of the other top notch pro touring cars that are headed to this years show.

Anyway, I walked into the shop this morning with Gregg to take care of a few little issues, and snap a few shots to submit for a couple of the SEMA design contests, and the natural lighting filtering in through the sky lights made my job easy.

Oh, and Glassman, it's a car. I'm going to drive it. :unibrow: And I also kind of want to prove that it isn't just a show car. :) Right now it runs and drives, and is free of leaks (so far - knock on wood). It has an oil cooler for just about everything, big tires, and some good suspension under it. It also has about two miles on it, so there is that...

Nah , it really didn't fit the vibe of the rest of the car, at least for now, it looks better without it. IMO.

What.......could.......possibly.......go.....wrong . :sieg:

I know, right? It could be faster than the Pinto if it doesn't explode or fall apart.

Car came out great Matt. Such a long journey. My favorite Fastback next to the RB full CF one.

When I first saw the Ring Brother's carbon body on display I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Then I thought it would be cool if I pulled molds of the body sides of my car and put them on an RB Mustang body. Oh the potential badassery...

almost no modern styling cues

Its been a long journey for me along this path and that is also where I ended up. No shaved door handles, no billet tail lights, no giant diffuser stakes, etc. In fact the more radical the car, the more awesome it is containing it within the vintage look. In my case I'm even contemplating a vinyl top !

Car looks great you have really captured the understated and vintage look despite the radical body mods. Engine bay is amazing too, makes mine look like the steampunk version of a Uboat engine room.

well the fascia style bumpers are modern. the only thing i would have done different was getting rid of the wing window for a one pice glass. But yes, one could look at it as something that could have been built in the late 60's

Front bumper is actually very similar to the Shelby R style bumper which was also run without a bumper. Body color rear bumper is not vintage but it is the same style and obviously could have been done back then, but they sure loved them some chrome back then.

The one piece side window kits have been universally panned, everyone I have talked to has said it is a major fabrication project and the only part of the "kit" that is worth anything is the glass itself. I've never actually seen one in person. I've seen a photo and it looked nice but also mentioned it was a major project, like a pro shop would have 12-15 hours per side into it.

Wing windows=vintage !

Car came out fantastic Matt. Along the way, I thought the car needed more cow bell, but now that its done I see it was just enough.

Your vision for the car, with just a little modern, and a whole lotta classic, was a smart one in my opinion. Love it.
