No one in need of a nice new condition 454 crate engine with everything to put into your car? What do you guys think its worth

In response to asking us what we think it's worth, here's a point of reference since you asked. I just recently sold my ZZ454 with 3800 miles on it in similar show-ready condition with the same valve covers and some billet and stainless goodies for $4200. I had about $7300 in it. I had no serious buyer interest in it at $5K(Ebay or forums), but plenty of interest around $4K+. Yours of course comes with the injection system, distributor, headers, front runner system with accessories, dyno runs, and tranny. That's a nice complete setup. As you know, sometimes it's easier and more lucrative to sell those parts separately, which is what I had to do with my similar components. Hope that info helps and hope the right buyer comes along for you.
I agree.^^
Chris..... break it up and you'll move it faster and probably cumulatively make more $$ than selling it whole.

Fesler, while there is no question about the quality of this motor or anything you do, I'll share with you a discussion me and my engine guy had this past Monday. I was going by to leave him a deposit on my cylinder head port and polish work he's getting ready to do on my L92 heads. When I walked into the shop and I hadn't been by there in a couple of years since he built my BBC 509 back in the day, all I saw in his shop were LS blocks...all types, LSX, 6.0's, 6.2's, 7.0's, you name it. I said, "man look at all the LS's you've got going on." And he said, "yeah, you can't hardly give away and small or bbc these days." Just like your customer is moving from the ZZ454 bbc to an LS3, so are 75% of the others out there. Now, don't get me wrong, a bbc is still the shyza and ain't nothing like it. But, it's just that the LS series have become so increasingly popular it's almost impossible to get rid of a sbc/bbc unless the price is almost next to nothing. Just like member chr2002ca said in his post when he sold his at nearly 40% less than what he had in it. Now, that motor is a very good price you're selling and well worth it, but again, like your customer, most everyone is moving to an LS. Good luck with the sale.

There are still hardcore big block guys but used eninge in general don't bring good money. You can get a brand new ram jet 502 for 10k. I'd say your whole package is worth 8-9k. The 50% of retail rule is usually pretty accurate for used stuff.

Todd, I had you in mind when I was writing my post. I know you are a hardcore bbc enthusiast to the heart. I would still have my 509 had my cam no went flat. When that happened that was my cue to go LS. I wanted an LS before my cam went flat, but wasn't going to spend anymore money. So, instead of fixing the bbc, I just used that money and bought the LS and sold my 509 to my buddy. Nothing like the rumble of my bbc when I used to start it up an roll thru my neighborhood. And yes, it's true, there is that unwritten rule of 50% off full value on the street. Sucks if you are the seller and all good if you are the buyer.

You know guys I can see the point on both issues, a buddy of mine has tried his best to talk me into putting a ls in my 70 chevelle and sell my 468. I will be the first to say that LS power is impressive for the amount of money you have to put in them. I guess you can call me crazy but when I walk up to a car (old camaro, chevelle or nova) and see a LS instead of a bbc it's like a let down to me. (No disrespect to the LS guys) It's the same way for me with a sbc too I guess I've just been a BBC guy too long. This would be a great package deal but finding someone with that amount of cash in one lick to spend. GLWS

Hey. Being a Big Block nut myself and haveing 5 built and ready to go at the moment, selling a big block is really hard right now. It was easier for me to sell a LQ9 and an LS1 in one week the it has been to sell a 396, 427 and a 454 that are built for serious abuse. The LS craze has kind of taken over even though it cost more to do a conversion for an LS, most people are looking for the fuel economy and reliability known to the LS. On another note, If I had use for your set up I would be all over it and as for what its worth, Thats a tough one to call. Good luck, Hell shoot me a price, I'm allways buying stuff and allways find a car to build.

Thanks for the input guys but this package is worth well more than 10,000 now can I get that well time will tell. This is better than brand new from GM as its all ready to go as a drop in with a killer tune worth over 2500 so I am in no hurry to sell it and I already have 3 serious guys on it but as you know no money it’s just talk. With the tune and all the goodies you would have to go buy for this you are well over 20,000 so my client is not hurting for money so we will just sit on it till the right guy comes around.
As for all the low ball offers not interested in selling it. If you guys want to get together here and break it up so most of it goes I will separate but if not it’s not worth it for me to just sell the block or front runner or tranny they all need to go together to one guy or several.
BB are just as popular as the LS still half the cars we do have BB engines and some guys hate LS stuff.

Maybe Chevy should come out with a BB LS. :morepower :morepower Then guys would be all over that. It'll be called something like an LS12 with 600 cubes. Sounds crazy, but I bet it would sell like crazy though.

Yeah, I know about that. But I'm talking about an obvious BB LS where you can see the difference in the size of the heads and the block itself. The LS-X is still the same size heads and dimensions roughly from just a normal LS. I'm talking about a real BBC LS if you know what I mean.:unibrow: :unibrow: Just like the difference in all aspects from a 350 SBC and a 540 BBC. Obviously, sitting next to each other there are grave differences.

It should it had a lot fo room in the Chevelle. depends on how high your motor mounts are. We did a 1969 blue Camaro with the same engine and fuel injection and just had to cut the bottom of the hood a little to clear. Runs like a champ in that light car. We also did a 55 and it fit perfect in that car. Back in the day these were the engines and fuel injections to run so lots of guys know how to work on them.
