My firewall is completely smooth and I need to drill the hole for the Steering column. Is there some sort of rubber grommet I can use or some other trim that can go there?

I have a swivel ball mount but its pretty big.

What are you guys with shaved firewalls doing around the steering column?

I believe Chris at JCG has something for that...

Thanks... Curious if there is some sort of rubber piece I can put in there so when I wash the engine water won't go in there.

Have you looked at the Earl's Seals It grommets. They might work. http://www.holley.com/types/Seals-It%20Firewall%20Grommet%20Seals.asp I was thinking about using these on my steering column as I've also smoothed the firewall. I see that the biggest hole size is just over an inch, but I wonder if they would stretch enough to fit around the column.

Nice those earls seals will work great for my wire harness hole. Thanks!

Not sure if its big enough for the column as its a few inches wide.

Coulumn needs to be rigidly mounted, so if you do not use the swivel or something equivilent, you still need to make a bracket to hold the column rigid if just use a rubber grommet.

Like Mike said rigidly mounted, here is a seal that might be what your looking for
