People like her who go out and spend all the money right away end up broke. Sure she can buy a million dollar house but the property tax sharks come attacking year after year....

I give her 8 more months and she will need those food stamps.

Why don't they make her pay back the last few years of support!

I would think the year she won would be considered income and thus she would not qualifie for assistance but next year she should re apply after broke:_paranoid

The timing was coincidental, but I read this story a few days after I read a Washington Post article about a couple who bought a 4900 sq ft, 5 bedroom, $1m house in Maryland. Bought it 5 years ago. They've made NO payments on the loan and are (so far) successfully fighting eviction by constantly appealing based on a variety of Maryland laws. 5 years, no payments.

Why can't I ever dream these schemes up!!!!! I've got great credit, but they are probably just as warm, just as dry, and just as comfortable as I have been for the last 5 years!

Seriously, it's sad that some folks are unable to take advantage of random fortune. This girl won the lottery, overspent on a house, probably invested nothing, and was probably immediately surrounded by friends and family who wanted money.

It's a shame all the way around.
