I got mine yesterday, and man, did Hunkins and Rupp put McBride to work! That rear suspension article is like half the magazine. It's good stuff, all your hard work looks great, John.

Mutert's feature is in there (great photography), as well as a huge article about Bob Johnson's Cuda, and Scott Hall got his 69 in hometown hotrodding.

Congrats, guys. :captain:

Yea, we are working the poor guy to death.. I used John for that story and when Hunkins saw it he was like :wow: "I want to use him in a lot of stories".. Look for John's work in upcoming issues (if we don't burn him out.. we are still trying to find the right "goove" (work load).

I think it's a fun issue.. did you notice the Burgie Beer can story? lol

Hey Scott, you car DESERVED to be in there.. hell, it's feature quality for sure but this will have to do for now.

We had already gone to print when I got your engine pic.. sorry. It certainly would have brightened up the page. :)

Hey thanks Scott and Steven. It really is fun and I'll do as much as I can handle. doing extra work at night is definately a balancing act. I look forward to working with the Dynamic PHR Duo in the future.

As I mentioned to Steven, I live in GA and I still haven't seen the March issue on the stands yet. I did however get my subscription issue about 2 weeks ago.

I haven't seen it yet, but I'm very much looking forward to it. :D

I re-subscribed like 2 months ago, but I guess it takes a long time get it going.

Does it usually go out to subsribers before it hits the news stand?

Haven't got my copy yet.

But could PHR give John some rest he needs his strength to do some work for the company I work for and his preliminary stuff is so good that we WILL be using more of him.

P.S. I work for Bushwacker and was the person who gave my boss your info.

Yes, but the subs have the ugly white box for the addy lable. Not sure if Alcinos car is on the cover of the sub issue.

Newstand issues have a glossy UV coating on the cover as well.

Got mine yesterday! i about Sh*t my pants when i saw that article on rear suspensions... it was awesome.

Its definately going into my "Hot-Rod Bible" book.

The only thing i wish i could have seen more of is in depth "how-to" of that cuda that was on the cover (it was a cuda right?) that thing was so flipping amazing, i wanted to see how they did it, and then promptly copy it for myself! LOL

There is a whole story on how they built it.. did you see that or are just wishing it was longer??

Sorta like a "build a book" deal...

I read it, i was really impressed... but i guess for me i like to see more "how-tos".. kinda like your "build a book" deal. Longer... not so much longer as in depth how to... i got the piece of milling the firewall, that was really cool to see. I'm not that great of a learner from reading stuff, i learn better by pictures and thorough examples.

I really liked the suspension piece, except the part where he says that "urethane bushings go along way towards rectifying this trait," refering to snap oversteer in converging like 4-links. Just a goof I am sure, but it's glaring! :) Then again, I sure have made my fair share of goofs!

It's just a no brainer.. we cover cars with an emphisis on pro-touring.. you guys build pro-touring cars..

It's a symbiotic relationship.. lol..

What's nice is that the cars here go from the low buck to the big buck so there is something for everyone.

A got mine 2 days ago and just about had a heart attack when I saw it on the kitchen counter. I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me.

Steve musta been kickin' down some doors over there with those big ole sh*t-kickin' boots of his (don't deny it Steve, big ole size 12 Timberlands from what I hear). He heard our cries about late deliveries last month and he marched down to shipping and flipped the script on those hacks.

Nice job Rupp. That's how ya git er done!

Damn, that was a good article on the suspensions, but I couldn't find my favorite, the coat hanger, duct tape and muffler clamp suspension. That was one used often on the way home from the race track years ago.

Great issue and great in-depth feature with the Cuda! That car deserves an entire issue or two! And a huge hats off to Johnny and crew for singing the praises of Chris Ito and his involvement in the project! It was really cool to see his picture and backstory in there along with a handful of the awesome designs he did to help make Bob's car what it is.
Good job, guys! This issue will stay on top of the stack for a long time!

My hat is off to everyone involved with the Cuda. Chris is an unsung hero. No one could have topped the work he did and his contribution to this project. He is a pleasure to work with and tries his heart out to please the builder and car owner. Thankfully none of us had egos that interfered with our ultimate goals. The few differences of opinion were worked out with everyone agreeing with the outcome. I don't think we were disappointed with the way anything came out but the tail lights..and they are being corrected..they weren't made like Chris designed them anyway. The numerous metal mods just flow so well no one realizes how much was done to this car until you park a stock one next to it. I hope this car gets Itoh and Alan the recognition they so justly deserve. It's very rewarding to see your fellow enthusiasts appreciate your efforts..It means a lot to all of us..

I was at SEMA standing there everyday with my mouth open and will do the same everywhere else I see it. Well I finally got my copy today. As always in typical PHR fashion..No disappointments!! As most have said, Bob, that Cuda is the baddest thing out there. Hands down. We all see the bar getting raised every time a new high caliber car comes out. Then the following year or so, another car comes out to to wear the crown...and so on. Your Cuda will be wearing the crown for along time! It will be along time before we see anything surpass much less be equally compared to your car.

I like the fact you are so quick to point out the recognition to all involved with the project. The guys I met and talked with at SEMA were first rate. No egos or attitudes at all. Just good ole' boys.

Congrats again and to the the folks at PHR..Keep up the good work!!

We all get along great and had a great time building this car. Lot of hard work and money but the finished product surpassed my wildest dreams..not often something comes out way better than you envisioned it..There's a lot of unsung heros behind the scenes at JHRS.. Alan's family especially his wife and dad (who by the way jumped in and took over the body work after Alan's body man quit because his fiance' was raising hell about the hours they were working). Didn't think the ol boy still had that much kick left in him..He worked his tail off..Tony Inman is Alan's right hand man and has been with Alan since Alan was a pup. Tony is THE MAN..Alan would not be where he is today without Tony. He's one helluva fabricator, innovator, stylist, and a hard worker to boot..now if we can just get him to quit smoking those cancer sticks so he can be with us longer..He's been around a long time and is very bright and experienced. he has been an integral part of all my projects and I value my friendship with him greatly. Greg is a fairly new addition to Alan's crew as is Moe. They were both very involved with this project and contributed greatly. All their respective families suffered due to the extensive hours they were working. Not many shops would have finished that project and made it to SEMA in the time restraints they had. Alan is a man of his word. That's all you can ask for in someone. I hope he has half the respect for me that I have of him and his crew. This project would not have been possible without Chris Itoh and all of our sponsors. That is why I am so confidant this car will run as good as it looks..good sponsors that are as committed as we are..Thanks to all of them..patronize them if you can..

I was actually fond of the story on the blue Mustang II.. $6k and the best performing car we have tested.. lol.. what does that say?

And yes, we wanted to counter the $750k Cuda with some "real world" rides like the Nova and Mustang II.

Good point, Steve and another good contrast to the Cuda story. I wasn't trying to rob him of any due credit, just giving an attaboy to Mark since he was posting on the same thread and had a killer car in the same issue but Alcino's car can't be denied. A car that goes like that for that investment is unheard of and he's obviously talented and resourceful.
Great cars and a great issue!
