I was heading to Huntsville, Al. last week to work on putting a DSE coilover equipped subframe under one of my friends daughter's 68 convertible and stopped by to meet Jim (Umgawa). It is really great to put a face with an Avatar. Jim is a fantastic individual and we put 2 weeks worth of conversation into 3 hours....never enough time.

After eating a great steak for lunch we headed over to his house to look at the Speedster and his other cars. I snapped a few pics of the car in its automotive cacoon awaiting the trip to the new metal guys shop.

Very cool project!

Sorry about that Shay. I did not get into Huntsville until late afternoon Thursday. It was a full-on thrash until I left Sunday morning. We worked for 12 to 14 hours each day on all of his stuff. We even had pizza delivered out to the barn. You know how it goes. You touch one thing and it just snow balls.

I would like to get you two hooked up.

Looking good, Jim! I take it you had no problems confiscating it from the other shop after SEMA?

Glad to hear you're making progress. You still shooting for Power Tour?

Nothing new with my car. I'm so slammed right now I hardly know which way is up!

I'm gonna try to have the 70 GTO convertible done for the tour. Fly to Orlando and ride back to Atlanta with me man! I can drop you at the Airport after you eat steak in Georgia for a few days, Alaska will still be cold when you get back.
