View Full Version : Round Two

Not sure if round two is appropriate or not. I don’t think the updates/mods have ever stopped since it hit the road for the first time. This is the start of some bigger changes though. My original plans for this winter were to pull the motor, trans, and sub frame. I was going to do DSE’s coilover kit and fix a small oil leak with the engine/trans. As well as some other updates
After Fikse took a little to long to fill my order plans changed. The Fikse’s were ordered for stock tubs. I cancelled the Fikse order and now have a set of Forgeline on the way. New plans are for a mini tub and Quadra Link. If time and budget allow I will still update the front end. I’m just not sure if it’ll happen this winter or not.
I never did a build thread when I built the car, so here goes the update thread. It might be a little slow, but I won’t miss any good driving weather come spring. The goal is to have the car back together no later than May.
Here is the first pic. All the DSE leaf spring stuff is out and ready to ship to it’s new owner.

Make room in that new shop for me! I was told that a 335 is a tight fit on the 67/8 Camaros. My plan is to get the stock tubs out and get everything cleaned up. I'll leave the final fit to you guys. I'm sure once the car is in your hands we will be adding to the to do list. I love the while I'm doing X I might as well do Y at the same time game.

Jason, man you have it bad! A few autocrosses and here you are!:wow:. Hopefully we'll have Stielows 67 at new shop by the first of the year, should be more than enough to give you some inspiration to make some more change's  . Let us know if we can help with anything.talk to you later. Joe

I think I could make all the changes I wanted and I'd still need a driver mod to keep up with that car. You know whatever is on that car should just bolt right onto mine:_paranoid... Just saying.

Progress has been slow, but here are some update pictures. I'm a few more good days of work away from the car being ready to go to Joe and Paul Van Nus. I should be getting my wheels this week for mock up. Everything is starting to come together. I'm getting excited to get everything together and see what it looks like on the ground. Here are the pictures that of the progress.
Wheel pictures I got from Jon @ Driverz Inc

Agreed, I'm glad they are so close to home for me. This is just a small project for them. Hopefully in the future I will have an entire paint and body build coming out of Dutch Boy Restorations.

The UPS man dropped off some shiny parts today. Tomorrow They should be dropping off the fronts. Glad I didn't weld in my close out yet I think I need to make a little more room. I know I won't be able to tuck that much tire once the car is driveable, but that is the height of the only bucket I could throw it on.

Thanks. I was at the point where I was either going to sell the car or make it the car I wanted. After seeing what cars have been selling for lately I figured I was better off just upgrading this car. Plus with a 22 month old I'm not sure if I would ever finish another project car from start to finish.

I've been slacking on my thread updates. Since the last round of pictures I got tubs, cross member, and QuadraLink brackets welded in. Last week I took the car down to Joe and Paul VanNus at DutchBoy Hot Rods. They got started on the car on Monday and got more done in four days than I would have in a month and a half. My phone was stolen a couple of weeks ago so there is a big gap in pictures. These are mostly pictures that Paul has been sending me of the progress.
I am also including some pictures of the engine harness that I am building for Paul's LS3 swap.

Here are some pictures of Paul LS3 harness. It will be a two piece harness, so the engine can be pulled without having to unplug every connector. I'm hoping to have at least the engine side of the harness done by next week.

We are heat shrinking the entire harness and not using loom. This is flame and chemical resistant heat shrink. This is the first branch of the harness I have finished.

I just need one of these venders to start selling driver upgrades and I might be competitive now. The first event that I know we will be at is going to be MotorState. With any luck we might be a able to sneak one in before that, but we will see.
When does Sam turn 16? Are we going to see a 4 door nonwagon at any events this year?

Went down to Joe and Paul's shop this morning and we got the axles in the rear end and the QuadraLink back under the car. This is the first time the car has been on the ground since it was a leaf spring car last fall.

Sam has his permit now, but will probably only be allowed to run some scca autocrosses this summer with Deb or I in the car. We're way behind on the four door, but maybe by next spring. Heck, I might end up needing to borrow his 6.2L before the end of the season...
We'll definitely see you guys at Motorstate!

Here is what Bryce was doing while we were working on the Camaro. Darcy claims this is not a staged picture. He flipped it over and got his tools all by himself. 13 more years until he has a permit. I'm not sure he can wait that long.

Thanks, when we get the car outside I'll try to take some better pictures of your handy work. We need to show off the hard work it must have taken to make my amateur minitub look that good. ;) I’m hoping the connector order comes in tomorrow or early Tuesday so I can get this end of the harness buttoned up.

Thanks a lot. I ordered the connectors to make this a two piece harness yesterday. I'm hoping to have the harness done by Wednesday. With any luck I'll be able to post some pictures Wednesday night. We are using four 16 pin GT150 connector to connect the two halves of this harness. They aren't the firewall bulkhead style. They will sit just above the bellhousing and with the engine in the car you won't see them at all. I'll get some good pictures once I have it together.
