Since most people don't post the full four digit year in their thread title, it's hard to look up specific years. Is there anybody out there putting together a badass 64 Goat? I love seeing these cars and feel like they don't get the attention they deserve. Post 'em if ya got 'em.

I am building one. Not sure if I would call it badass though.
LS1 with AFR heads, LS6 intake and EPS cam
T56
SPC upper and lower control arms, AFX spindles, Hotchkis shocks, SPC springs
Currie rear trailing arms with Hotchkis shocks and SPC springs
Hellwig front and rear tubular sway bars
12 bolt with 3.73 TruTrac posi
C6 Z51 front brakes, LS1 rear
Vintage Air Gen 4
HRE 545 19 inch wheels with chrome finish (I like the old school look)
I am currently moving slowly through the wiring stage, my least favorite part of the build.
Here's a pic after I painted it. Color is HOK brandywine with their candybase system. I also included a before shot.

Looks good so far. You picked a nice color. I used to want to buy/paint an old F100 Brandywine. Random side note: I used to live and will probably live close to (AGAIN) Brandywine Maryland.

I saw a couple nice ones on Hot Rod TV one morning and it reminded me of how damn cool the 64's look all P-T'd up. Speaking of 64's on tv, I want to watch that new show Jason Lee (My Name is Earl) is in...JUST TO SEE THE CAR! hahaha

it's badass dude...the color rocks, what color is that and what paint did you use?
Thanks. It is just a home built bolt on car and doesn't come close to the builds I see on here.
The paint is House of Kolor. The color is Brandywine. It is a lot of work to apply. Two coats of black sealer, three coat of silver base, four coats of Brandywine candy base followed by three coats of clear followed by wetsanding followed by three more coats of clear.

You paint it yourself? If so, where'd you pick up that valuable skill?

Just did a bunch of reading, built a homebrew paint booth, bought a couple of guns and started painting. I wouldn't call it skill at this point. This was my second car. Several years ago I got burned by a shop painting my 69 Z28 and swore never again. I actually enjoy doing all the work myself. The results are not show quality but good enough for the likes of me...

That's exactly what I'd like to do. Well...learn to paint not get shafted by a body shop. Let me know what material I should be reading. I've got a BASIC general knowledge just from reading magazines and watching Power Block on Spike but not too much more.

I picked up a fair amount on the southern polyurethanes website and forum. They used to have some good instructions for painting and color sanding etc but they are gone now. I'll see if I can find my printouts and scan them. The forum is also worth some time.

Finally finished it. It became more resto-mod than pro-touring. Been on the road for a couple of weeks now. Ride is quite different from my 69 Firebird with an AME subframe and G-Bar rear. The rear suspension is less harsh than the G-Bar.

Thanks for the update. Looking back, your suspension sounds pretty close to what I'm procrastin...I mean, contemplating. How would you rate it?

Compared to my Firebird (AME subframe plus G-Bar) I would say that it is less harsh (particlulary the rear suspension) but I am guessing the Firebird would outperform the GTO in an autocross for example. The AME subframe was outstanding, probably hard to beat with bolt on parts. I often thought the Varishocks were the weak link with my G-Bar but never got around to trying some Ridetech shocks before I sold it.
That said I am happy with the GTO suspension. It is better for the kind of driving I do on the roads we have here.
