has anyone ever seen C5 or C6 fuel tanks in a first gen camaro? since there isn't anything close to stock on my '69 camaro i figured why not look into it since i have the room to put it in and they are pretty cheep.

pros:
proven design on road tracks to run low levels of fuel.
moves weight in front of the rear wheels.
easy to get replacement parts if something were to happen on the road
lightweight
protected better than in the stock location

cons:
packaging, would need to build a sealed from the passenger compartment firewall thats still serviceable top or bottom.

ok so i can only think of one drawback.

I was actually thinking about this the other day. That one con is pretty big though. You have to factor in the floorpan and exhaust routing and suspension setup. It might get in the way of those using a triangulated 4-link as well as traditional muffler location. 2003 and older C5 tanks have their pump accessible from the rear of the tank not the top.

the traditional muffler location would be a non issue because of all the room you would have from where the stock tank used to be. also the exhaust clearance in the middle would be fine as well because the vettes run down the middle.

i'm running an LD 3 link so i wouldn't be able to put them on the higher flat spots where the rear seat was. i can however mount them in the lower foot wells for the rear seat just behind the seats just like GM did.

the only issue with a bottom drop out fuel tank is the DSE sub frame connectors. i think i am going to get more measurements and build some cardboard sim tanks and see how intrusive they will be.
