Very nice work, looken real nice. Scott what are you using for ends on the rear end links??
coolwelder62
10-09-2010, 07:23 PM
The frt. is a wide poly bushing from ridetech, rear is a delrin incased johnny joint from ballistic fabrication w/9/16 thur bolt's.I really like the way DSE quadra links is built and works,so I built mine in the same fashion.I used 1.250X.120 wall 4130 tube for connecting link's & 2in.X .125wall 4130 tubing for the subframe conector's.The bay bar's are next on the list of project's.Will have Brandon keep posting photo's as work progresses.

Randy I am thinking of doing a rear shelf like DSE put Dale jr's 72.Under the shelf will be (of course OPTIMA yellow top-my pal Jimi Day has made sure I have a garage full of those.)Power inveter, 12V.air compressor(for ajusting tire pressuers during track days & auto x's,low profile jack & complete tool kit and all the radio componet's.I really want to make the power tour in 2011.

Here are some more shots of what I did today.I fabed up a radiator cover plate which will need some corner's welded on & then some fender/core surport strut's.I want to use one of those cool anvil auto closeout's so laid the 3/8 rod end's on top of the core surport w/some cone bushing's I had. I will DA the alum. then have it powder coated before instllation.I stoped off at the bone yard last week and found a 3.5 alum. drive shaft out of a 2004 crown vic. cop car ($15.00). Shortened it 5in. and bang it fell right in place. Advanced Auto had some crossover ujoint's ($9.90ea.) that helped it fit my T56 slip yoke & 1310 9in. ford pinion yoke (Labor to shorten priceless).I am going to scotch brite the shaft and leave the painted police decal on it then clearcoat. Now all I need are some, cop shock's & cop brake's and I'm ready to roll.

Scott, I'm sure you've been asked a million times, but I've never read what you did to fit a 315 tire up front. Care to divulge your secrets? :unibrow:
MattMatt my subframe rail's are only 32inches outside to outside. My frt wheels are 18x11's (12inches over all) with 7.375 back space.I have the camber set at 3Degrees-neg.mainly for contact patch during track day's.W/the camber set 1.5 degees -neg. they slightly rub the very outer edge of the iner wheel house. I used a hammer and dolley to work the outer edge up &out giving me a little more clearance. But I had to have it bolted to the fender so as was hammering on it would stay. Then I took it apart and used the planishing hammer to smooth it all out so no one could tell what I did unless they look real hard.W/7.375 backspace the inside of the wheels will just barely rub so smoothed the back side of the lower a arm about an 1/8 inch.Under super hard braking w/that much back spacing the inside of the tire will rub on the top inside of the iner fender just under the hood hinge.I know this because after and real fast track day the paint had been rubed off.At lock to lock the tires are about 1/4 inch for outside of the frame rails. The 315's will track alover the road, those slight groves is what those big tires follow. But they really look bad a$$.Thanks for asking Matt.I hope your camaro comes back togather better than before.Scott.

Gaetano,
There are a bunch of orange 2nd gens out there right now. I like the mulsanna blue,or a benz bright silver.I been thinking I am going to need alot more motor than I have now. Mast motor sports sell a 690hp SS427 that might work.I still need to fab a dash & gauge insert, hang some a/c.build a rear package shelf like jack ass has,fab exhaust, mount the steering column, build a fuel tank, mount the gas pedal, fix a few small rust holes & fab a trailer hitch and small 4x4 2 wheeled trailer.I think I will up grade to new ZO6 brakes and sell the Z51 kore 3 setup I have now.And look for a smokin deal on some forgelines.would like to have it ready for paint jan.1,March 1 start assem.

Travis, Thank's. I kinda like the name SCRAPS. I have been building it from leftover's I had laying around, & some part's that I traded for over the last year.I am tying to stay on a budget. But if I sell the LS2 and go w/ more motor that might kill that deal.Just going to keep plugging along.

I say go with more motor. I thought going from 500 hp to 620 was going to be intimidating but its just more fun. Only i still dont know what traction is like on 200 tread wear tires.
Benz silver would be cool with black wheels. I've been on this black wheel kick lately.
I can see where your headed with this thing and have a feeling it will be seeing alot of events. Go gettem Scott!!

I have 2 set's of BFG's KDW's 295/30/18's & 335/30/18's for winning the last two KC goodguy's. If I can get a good deal on some forgelines that's what I mount on them.Driving and A-X on street tire's.And my little trailer will have a tire carrier on the frt. of it.Make run's on street tire's then change out for R6's make some run's on race tire's compare the differant's.That way I can drive to the event's unless the whole family want's to come. Then we will have to load up the BIG rig.

Hood louvers are a good idea. Will you have them recessed or protruding? I like a lot of the details you're putting into this car. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
I droped the louvers in the hood and went with a scoop instead.I delivered the car to Brian Kellison for paint & body today.

Very, very cool project! Please keep the updates coming.
Scott, I would like to talk with you about making a duplicate dash insert and lower dash. Just the metal, no gauges, vents or switch gear. But with all of the openings cut and dimples formed.
Im in no rush, I know you have your hands full.
Maybe a few other items as well?Eric,As soon I get a quick chance I will make some drawing's and will be ready to fab up the part's as soon as you are ready. Scott

Us simpletons can't aspire to the likes of RS. We need something that is achievable to keep the fire burning. Builds like DSE, RS, JCG just make me shut my lap top up with my tail between my legs. ;)

Hay thats not bad, sure we all want Marks 800 Hp motor but like you said budget. Thats the best way to build a car unless you have unlimited funds, then I'm going over RS and have them build me a car :unibrow: Oh and please keep the pictures coming, i for one love to look at what you are doing. Sure I like to look at what the Pro top shops are doing I look at JGC, RS, DSE all the time to find different ways help my car look better. But I really like to see the home built cars or at least the ones built by the guys that do it because they love to build cars not just make money. Not saying that the pro builders do not love what they do, they have to too turn out the cars that are coming out of these shops today, but they also still have to make money. So please keep the pictures coming:thumbsup:

L92/LS3 heads a cam and a tune and you're well north of 500hp...:thumbsup:No,I will let the next owner upgrade the horsepower.I will just finish the car and tune the chassis. That way if someone just's want's a great driving camaro it's already to go.But if they want something to go out and run w/the fast group all they have to do is the motor work you discribed and they are in the ballpark.

That's the better way to do it if the plan is to be willing to part with the car eventually. Sort it out and prove it's reliable and built right. The last thing you need is some jack wagon complaining because you put a lumpier cam in there than they are happy with.
Keep up the good work Scott.
