View Full Version : Just got my harness back from Speartech!!!
Holy Sh#%! I feel like I want to put it back in the box and forget about it! No really, I'm not sure how to start. It seems like there are more plugs then places to put them. This is my first LS swap so it seems crazy.
Harness looks good and most things are labeled. The fun starts now!

I scanned and saved my instructions.
Mine were for a 2004 GTO LS1 so not sure if it's exactly the same.

My harness is plugged in and it appears to be in the best position with the computer located in the front driver side fender. This harness has stock wire lengths from a 03 escalade. My plan is to get it running and then change the harness.
Is there any one that can confirm the wire colors for the injectors? Or just the #1 injector color?I'm not 100% sure that the harness is sitting correctly.
It's going into a 69 bird and I must run a corvette style alt/pwr steering set up. It seems like the wires are sitting right where the alt/pwr steering will be.

John is the best. He did a diagnosis for me over the phone and wouldn't take a dime, so I sent him a gift card. I can't say enouh about this man's ability in the wiring department. Top notch guy.

I believe those pics are of the stock Escalade harness that came with the engine, not the new Speartech harness............

Oh cool so speartech only wraps the parts they work on?
Sorry about that, I unwrapped it to get rid of a plastic piece I didn't need. I plan to rewrap it.

so you had them mod the existing harness, not build a whole new one?

It's very safe to say I'm learning the expensive way. Yes, I had them mod the existing harnness.;)
All I need now is the pwr/steering pump and alt set up. I'm getting close!
I got the fuel tank wired in today with a bigger fuel pump.
What is this? I can't find a spot for it?:hail:

oil pressure sender I believe........

I think the oil pressure senser is oval. Is it on the right front, or back by firewall? If up front it could be AC high pressure switch. All my plugs/wires were labeled from speartech.

it also looks like the older TPS plug. I was guessing oil pressure because of the location, looks like it's at the rear of the engine in that pic.
Since this is a modded harness, not a completely new one I'm not sure it came labeled for the pieces Speartech didn't mod.
Jody
It is towards the rear of the harness by the fire wall. It's the only plug that wasn't labeled. Not knowing much I would think it could be oil because it's close to the drivers side rear. The oil pressure unit is right by the oil filter, mine is not drilled and tapped for the unit yet.

that's exactly where the factory oil pressure sender is, and it's the correct round three terminal plug. Stock on most LS engines they're right behind the intake manifold, in the valley cover plate. The LQ9 you have isn't in the cover, but the same location I believe, right next to the cam sensor, upper rear of the block. Let me find a pic.
edit: okay, here's a pic on found on the net, the second pic is where yours is; same location as the first, but the valley cover is different and doesn't cover the sender........
Thank's Jody
I have another question. My O2 sensor plugs are different then the ones that came with my Dougs headers. Is it common for people to swap out to a universal plug or are there special plugs?

if you're speaking of the bungs in the headers it should be the standard 18mm X 1.5 thread that all O2's use. Got a pic of what you're talking about?
I moved wires around but didn't cut any. Ended up putting my CPU in dash, and used a block off plate for the heater core. Drilled the plate for the wires and plugged everything in and it worked!!!
I'm using a CTS to monitor the engine.
Looking good! Have a question for you, what are you using to mount your coils? In the earlier pics it looked like some aluminum mount, and in the latest pic it appears to be on the valve cover.
Just curious, because I like them both.

They are actually the same coil mounts. I just made some brackets to relocate them over the valve covers. They are made out of stainless. The same company that makes the carbon fiber valve covers makes the coil mounts. They are made to fit right on the valve covers using the same allenbolts as the valve covers, just longer.
I had clearance issues.
The valve covers came with my motor, and the coil mounts I bought from XcYZ. I'm not sure who sells them.
Still waiting to go to the dyno. Changed the wiring up.http://www.lateral-g.net/forums/images/smilies/cheers.gif

looks great Anthony. Have you driven it yet, or are you waiting for the dyno and final tuning first?
Looks nice and clean now! Where did your coils go?
I have only driven the car home from the muffler shop and around the block a few times. It started throwing codes. One of them was a lean code and the other was low voltage to the knock sensors.
I spoke to Synergy and plan to take it to them maybe next week. They will program and dyno the car.
I put 3 inch exhaust on it. It sounds crazy!!!
My plan is to mount the coils 4 on each side. They will be on the inside of my frame. The space between the motor and the radiator.
I'll post a PIC when it is done.
I got caught up in Supercross last week so I didn't get much done.
