Alright, I've seen alot of posts about what EFI tank is best for a first gen camaro with an LS engine. It seems a Rick's stainless steel tank is the answer, however I have a problem spending $1200 on something if I don't really have to.The only other tank people talk about is a Spectra or Spectre?
tank that costs around $500 bucks, but I've seen alot of comlaints about fuel starvation or inaccurate level readings. So here's my questions...have they fixed those problems?
Is there some other company producing reliable tanks for around $500 bucks?
Should I buy a baffle/sump from Aeromotive for around $150 dollars and have it welded in a stock $120 dollar tank and be done with it ?
Lastly...is the Corvette bypass/regulator the way to go so I don't have to run a return line all the way from the front of the car?Just a short little jog...

So what are your oppinions ? (i guess thats the last question !)

With some modification, a 94-96 impala ss tank will fit. Chris (69MyWay) installed one, maybe he can give you some insight. http://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=414&highlight=impala+tank

Here is one for sale- http://www.lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=26538&highlight=impala

I have yet to hear someone who bought an off the shelf stainless or spectra tank that worked without the starvation issue. I know that some people have Ricks build them custom tanks that they've designed with some success but if I'm going to pay so much money why do I also have to design something that works?

Personally I'm going the exact route you mentioned, aeromotive sump, stock tank. It seems like it will work better to control the fuel, and it's a lot cheaper.

The corvette regulator is something a lot of people use in swaps, it's extremely cheap and obviously a proven way of doing it.

Can you explain a little more about the corvette regulator??what year and details??
Thanks

C5 corvette's and it's a regulator/filter combo that bolts on the frame.

I would not go with a spectra tank, I can't go around a corner with out sucking air and good luck getting any customer service. I picked up my corvette regulator/filter from my local Oreilly's for like 30 bucks wix part# 33737 I believe works great.

It's all about the SUMP... it's a must have for EFI. The sump can either be internal or external - but you've got to have one. An old style carb pick up just won't work for EFI.

If you're on the cheap - then get a sump (or make one - it's a box with an outlet) and use an external pump and filter set up. Use your existing line as the return line.

You've already mentioned the Aeromotive sump so you know that is available and relatively inexpensive.

Be sure to locate the sump at the REAR of your tank... a low fuel level - and an uphill climb (or a hard launch) will push all the fuel to the rear where your pick up point needs to be.

You also need to be sure the return doesn't aerate the fuel near the pick up point. EFI doesn't like air bubbles.
