I have Hagerty.
Got my car on the raod last spring and called a few places and asked who was using what on a couple forums.
Price was less than expected and thankfully no claims, I did however use the towing feature once:( . The car got home safe and sound.:P

The only hitch is that there is no coverage for any race-track activities. Curious what the guys are using that do track day events if anything?

I have used Hagerty and Grundy, and called a few others for quotes. Lately Grundy has had the best prices for me. You really need to check a few, because there is no one company that will be the best for everyone; type and mods of the car, where you live, credit rating, age, etc. will all influence the pricing.

thanks for the quick responses!

Im definately going to check around.....not neccesarily looking for the best pricing ,more service , customer service and agreeing on insuring a heavily modified car that i have a TON of money into. Man i fear the day if i ever have to call an adjuster:willy:

Seems like Grundy doesnt shy away from our types of cars .THat alone will make my choice easier

I've been pretty happy with Hagerty. In order to come to an agreement on value they usually ask to see pictures, and if they think your number is high they ask for documentation of invoices, etc. In my case, I keep having to send over documentation every time I want to update the policy. At most it is mildly annoying that they won't just accept my figure, but I can't blame them, and if that's my biggest complaint I think doing pretty well. As for wondering about how they handle heavily modified cars...well, I think the only original things left on mine are parts of the sheet metal. Everything else from suspension to glass is new and after providing invoices Hagerty was happy to insure my car for exactly what I had into it.

FWIW, I use Grundy. They know it has a roll bar and that's fine with them. And so far it's been real easy to up the policy as the project moves forward.

I am using American Collectors Car insurance and the premium is $450. I am insuring $35,000.

With all recent upgrades I wil be going up to $50,000 so I,m sure that will change a Bit.

For racing and time trials K and K insurance will handle on track incidences and the premium is 5-10% of amount you are insuring but they dont cover bodily injury or death.

For bodily injury there is Stida Insurance and they cover up to $250,000 for medical bills payed over a 2 year period but only $10,000 for death.

I'd call Tamra Perto over at MK Insurance, all the heavy hitters from Yenko.net use her, she's a sponsor there.
I just insured the Buick funny car yesterday at a value of $50K,premium is $90/yr.

I have $220K total in agreed-to value on all 4 of my cars and my premiums are less than $500/yr.

again, check several. I tried both of the above and they were both higher than Grundy FOR ME................ Tamra was a lot higher on my Chevelle, yet she's killer pricing on Johns cars. What is the best price-wise for one may not be the best for the next guy. Also, make sure you read the restrictions, some companies are much more relaxed than others.......... cost is not the only thing that matters. ;)

Hagerty here.

From what i found they have less driving restrictions than most insurance companies.

But still no track coverage.:(

I went through Tamra on mine, she was about $50 cheaper than Hagerty for me. I'm only 26, so I thought the $300 i spent for a $35,000 policy was pretty darn good.

I've read my policy pretty closely,I can't see where MK is more restrictive than others but it don't matter much to me personally as I don't drive any of these cars much.

She said no coverage if I take the Buick down the 1/4 mile, told he that's unlikely, lol.

I wasn't speaking of MK in particular being restrictive, we never got past the pricing stage. I don't think she liked my Chevelle, or the turbos.............. My credit was very good, live in a very low crime zip code, no wrecks or tickets, etc............... she was actually the highest I quoted, and by a bunch. So yeah, she didn't like the car...................... :P

I have settled a claim with hagerty while a GTO I restored was in my care. The car suffered storm damage ( a TON of it, trailer got hit by freak tornado on the highway) while being transported back to the owners and was covered under their unfinished policy. Their claims department was incredible... I sent photos back and forth, we settled on a price ( I wrote the estimate for repairs and they approved, never dickering on labor or parts prices... not even once) and they had a check to me within a week to start the repair process. The vehicle suffered more that 10K in hail damage, and Hagerty was a wonderfully easy company to deal with. I used to own and manage autobody shops in the past, and believe me you can tell alot about an insurance company by the way they settle a claim. It's not all about the best premium, more of the follow-through matters. Hagerty won me over on that experience alone.

Just my two cents.
