Hey guys, I sent my 73 rs into the body shop today and am still undecided on a color. I know that I want some type or silver/dark gray and matte/satin black stripes. My wheels are also black with a polished lip...

Can anyone recommend a color/paint code? PICS would definitely help!

Thanks for the input guys!

I used a 2002 Toyota grey on my top half.

There is an app for that....

It's called a PROFESSIONAL RENDERING...

There are several pros on this board that would LOVE to do paint schemes for you == and you could actually SEE your car just the way it's going to be.

Jason Rushforth
Ben Hermance
Carter Hickman

Are just 3 of the names that come to mind. I'd contact them and get busy.

i just shot 6 greys

ford titanium silver (too light, good tone)
mercedes iridum grey (too dark, good tone)
mercedes palladium silver (just plain bright silver and not what i was looking for)
bentley granite (too blue)
bmw cashmere (screwed this one up and was not what i was expecting)
range rover nara bronze (a little too brown when looking at the suns reflection, but the rest balances it out even in direct sunlight)

if i had another sample, it would be bmw sepang bronze which only came on the "m" cars. i saw it on an m5 and it was really classy looking. a lot like my nara bronze.

but, im going to spray my car with mercedes mars red with the satin nara bronze for the stripes and wheels. it may be too brown for an entire car, but i hate blue greys. the mercedes iridum would be a nice primary color, but it can look very dark in low light.

do you want silver or grey? dark or light? blue or brown cast? id start walking some dealership lots and get some ideas. pics on the computer really dont work. it might help narrow them down, but you HAVE to see it in person. google images is a good place to start.......

tim, thank you very much for the informative response! i am 90% set on cyber gray metallic and would consider some comparables. i have been searching for pics of a cgm 1st or 2nd gen camaro but have had little success.

if you are looking at cgm, then the iridum is the only one of those thats close. cgm is too dark for what i wanted, but it would look good as a primary color.

this is what I do to chose a color is drive to new and used car lots on a sunny day to see what the colors in the real light and not a chip book they just start to look the same after staring at them go out and see the color on a whole car. hope this helps you from spending alot of hard earned cash and not being happy with the results.;)

That is good advice and is what I am going to do today after work. I agree that looking at color samples out of a book doesn’t really give you a good indication of what the car will end up looking like. Seeing a whole car in person makes a big difference…
