Since you guys picked the color on the FREEDOMBIRD I thought it only appropriate you help with this detail too...

Inner fenders are body worked to remove all the factory reliefs (dents) and all holes have been welded/filled. They are in primer and ready for paint...

So, JetStream Blue to match the firewall or "hot rod" black like the top of the radiator support? lmk

You know Ty, in the email response I said blue. But looking at this picture I almost change my mind to the black. Tough call.

eggshell (low gloss) black. The engine should be a showcase, like a piece of jewelry in a box. Not drawing attention to the surroundings, but to the engine. Of course I would have probably done the firewall in the same black, but that's me. Any way you do it it's gonna look killer.

The only thing that's missing in that pic Jody is that it's not in my car with Pontiac Baby Blue valve covers!!

I was mainly trying to show how clean the black looks as a border for a nice engine like yours. Threw a pic of Pauls car because it shows how well the black looks against a beautiful blue car.

Jody,
Both of those look just awesome! And that all of the aluminum is brushed or satin tops it all off really nice.

Ty, either way you go it will be great. But because the firewall is already blue then I kind of lean in the direction of blue inner fenders too.

i prefer the all satin black look myself also but since you already have the firewall blue i would do the fenders blue also. when i see a car with a body color fire wall and black fender it just doesn't look good or flow at all.

don't forget steves bad penny its got body colored fenders and firewall and still show cases his engine like fine jewelry.

With almost an even split for a while I think we've let the poll run long enough... BLACK it is!!!

Thanks guys! :lateral:

In the end... black won out... mostly becuase it'll be easier to touch up long term... but it looks like the right choice too!

As a fellow Airmen, good choice on keeping it black! You should've gotten some of the SR71 carbonyl iron ferrite flat black!

Something I find interesting since I've had cars from all of the big 3, is that many, as shown by the majority of the voting in this poll, GM and Ford guys are ardent supporters of black engine bays, while the Mopar guys are almost rabid about body colored engine bays. And they engien bay color is usually one of the first complaints or compliments that will make or break a viewers opinion. Weird.
