Thought I would post up a few pics as my car develops. I hope to have the car done by the end of 2010. Already completed most of the hard part. Installed the one piece floor, Full qtrs, tailpan, trunk pan, DSE Minitubs, smooth firewall, 4pt cage with removeable back bar, 1/4 inch plate in package tray area to stiffen the car up, removed the factory braces between the back seat and trunk area and installed a solid sheet of metal to mount my amp, speakers, computer, etc to backside of, removed factory dash speaker grille and put a piece of flat metal in, and up next once my wheels and tires get here and my DSE speed kit 3, I will be installing the DSE frame connectors. The car is going to have a big inch LSX engine, T56 trans, and Moser 12 bolt, vintage air, baer brakes on all 4 corners, DSE dash with Autometer guages, seats out of a 98-02 camaro recovered in black leather with a 5pt harness coming through the headrest area on the seat. Car will also have hideaway headlights as it is a factory rally sport car...

Thanks for looking:cheers:

Welcome and keep the pics coming. I hope you have been saving for a long time, because you have BIG plans for the car with BIG name parts in such a short time frame of 10 months. Speaking of you said finishing before the end of the year. Nonetheless, it sounds like a hell of a project. I'll be watching this one.:lateral:

Here's a few more pics. I ordered my Boze "Tach" wheels last monday in 18x8 and 18x12 rear with brushed center/cleared and polished lip. Got an awesome deal on them through Newstalgia wheels which is just about 15min from me in chattanooga. Should be in around 4weeks, so I can get the car on the ground, and finish the DSE subframe connectors...

Well I was welcomed home by several Detroit Speed boxes sitting outside my garage door this evening! My DSE Speed Kit 3 came in today. I already have the subframe ready to go just got to start bolting some good suspension parts to it. As usual, the parts from DSE are top notch and absolutely beautiful...

I agree thats the way I am, I cant wait to get home each day to see if there is a package on the doorstep! I am hoping to have the DSE speed kit 3 installed this week and the 12 bolt back under the car with the DSE perches. After its rolling this week I am going to finish up the subframe connectors through the floors from DSE...

Little more progress today. Got all the factory garbage cut off the subframe and got my coilover conversion kit welded in. Also got the perches cut off my rearend, so I can install the adjustble DSE pair. Tomorrow I will start assembly to roll under the car and get the subframe connectors fitted through the floor...

finished the subframe today for mockup, just got to add swaybar and steering linkage. I got the rearend back under the car and welded the shock mounts in today also. Tomorrow I am going to put the subframe back in the car and get it on all fours and weld the frame connectors through the floor...

Well I got a little more accomplished on the car yesterday. Actually hung the fenders on the car and done some adjusting on it. I still have some tweaking to do on it, I ran out of time before I had to go to work.:( I went ahead and took the factory wrinkle out of the firewall and smoothed it. Hopefully this weekend I will have everything were its supposed to be and get the DSE connectors in the car...

Well "My 401k" project is in the interior shop, so I got some time to work on this project. Got the interior, cage painted all except the dash. Need to cut some holes for AC vents, so didnt paint it yet due to waiting on them to be delivered. Also, I plan on painting the tailpanel satin black as well. Car has been wetsanded and compounded but not polished yet. I am happy with how it turned out. I finally added my sheetmetal valve covers also! :woot:

Well got the dash and tailpan finally done along with all the window moldings. Need to lower my 4X4 camaro by about 4" and get rid of that nasty looking master cylinder but at least now I get to see what it looks like painted with the wheels on it. I think I like it! Was considering changing the wheels before but not now....

So, I want opinions on the outside of the car. Should I go with painted bumpers? Black annodized door handles or polished from Ring Bros? What about mirrors and rear spoiler for the car??? Let me know what you think...:lateral:

awr68
11-27-2011, 01:02 PM
IMHO, that car needs bright work. Cars can easily get too black. Your wheels are all silver and need more on the car to balance it as a whole. Anodizing scratches very easily...I would never put it on a high wear part like a door handle. Your car is looking great!

Getting really close to finishing! Just need to charge the AC system, touch up a few places, put my glovebox door on, and vent my valve covers. I have had several ask what that is behind my shifter and its the controller I went with. for my stereo system. Marine controller so that its more convenient to operate...
