I am getting ready to drop a zz502 in my 68 camaro. I had to change the stock oil pan and oil pick up. I put the new milodon oil pick up in today and it just sliped right in. I did not have to press it in. I have been told that this is bad because by slipping in so easily it is possible it could suck air and not pick up as much oil. Does any one know if this is correct.

I'd be more concerned that it would fall off the pump, thus no oil.

You should tack weld it to the pump. Or I believe there is a clamp made that attaches the pick up to the pump.

That's very possible. Welding the full circumfrance is an option. Just make sure not to over heat the pump and warp the cover.

Greg I don't think that (as a result of the slip-fit) it could ever suck an appreciable amount of air to cause a problem.....If you are concerned about it, You could braze the tube to the cast-iron pump body, easily done.
