I don't think Rupp is gonna like your predictions very much. Defending champ not even in the top 3! :_paranoid :willy: ;)

Should be a great event. Hope to see some good video footage afterward.

That's ok.. I'm use to it.. :) -- I am surprised to be counted out of the autocross event though.. especially considering the cars record in autocross events. But that's the fun of speculating :)

For the record.. in regards to the autocross, Jackass, driven by Charlie or Mark didn't beat my times at the Motor State Challenge.. even when driven by me. Charley said he's driving Jackass in that autocross against me, so we're a bit more on par. In the autocross the guys to beat are Kyle and Ryan from DSE. :) -- my car is on par with the DSE cars, I just need to bring my A-game in terms of driving. It should also be noted that RideTech's Velocity Camaro was crazy good at the RTTH V event.. it's certainly a contender now that they have the bugs worked out.

The one time I ran the auto-x against the RS Corvette I was well over a second faster, even on brand new KDWs.. Then again, I'm sure they've had time to sort the car out.

Also, keep in mind that Spring Mountain isn't Gingerman.. it's not a heavy braking track, but more of a momentum track. Penny does well at momentum tracks. To win the whole deal a car has to do well in ALL the events.. thay's why Penny won buy such a large margin last year. That's what a car will need to do this year.. either that or win another event by such a HUGE margin that they can blow another event.

But, one thing you learn in life is that there's always someone faster.. there's always someone luckier (or un-luckier) and one broken part can take you out of the whole deal.

Make no mistake.. we are in this to win this.. if not what would be the point. BUT, the main goal is to have fun and run a good hard race. Trying to predict the winner is like guessing which horse will win the Kentucy Derby.. some might have an edge but any horse in the race can win it.

What this really comes down to is car/driver.. personally my car is capable of beating (not by much) any car there in the autocross.. BUT, I'm just an "ok" driver.. Kyle, Ryan, Mary are better.. I guess I need to just hope that the changes we've made to the car give me an edge to close up the "talent" gap.

I hope this event never becomes so competative that it stops being fun... that would be sad.

Ok, a free bad penny t-shirt to the winner!!!

Hey, it's all I've got!

Here's what you have to pick:

Autocross winner
0-60-0 winner
Road track winner
Overall winner

lol... that is the easier way to do it.

Personally it's anyone's race. Remember that the times are ALL added up.. you only have to blow one lap of ONE event to be screwed. Get lost on the autocross course.. you're done.. spin once on the big track.. you're done.

Flat spot a tire in the 0-60-0 event.. screwed.. in fact, it's way easier to not win than to win. lol

I think all of us WANT to win, but none of us NEEDS to win..

I think you're ALL WINNERS!

In my book anyway....

Not being sappy here. Just a fact. You - all of you - have killer cars - and drive 'em hard... YOU ALL share with us and WE all get to live vicariously through you all.... What could be better than that!

:lateral:  :woot:

cant leave out Finch, he can drive the wheels off a car.

Steve is right about Ridetech, bret was doing very well at RTTH's, that car is quick.

Like I said.. any horse in the race can win.. I think it's easier for people to speculate about cars that have seen more action, but even the new builds like Finch's can't be counted out. After all, it's an exact copy of Kyle's 70 (suspension wise) and we know that car is a performer.

I'll reserve my vote for the event. Unless you've personally looked all these cars over and seen them practice it's like playing pin the tale on the donkey. I just hope it's a Camaro personally. Let's not all forget the mechanical reliability of many of these new builds coming from Sema. How many puked all over the track last year. Steve has his car torn down right now. How many shake down miles will he have on his new setup. We know Jackass isn't set up for autocross and either are the drivers. The best All around car will win. I can't wait to see it.

Steve, I think your car is awsome. In fact it is one of my 4 top camaro's . (BIG RED,Dalejr's 72,& Bad penny. Kyle's70) I think Mary & Kyle will be the ones to beat at the auto cross.Dan told me the DSE camaro will be on R1's. I have your car w/ second fastest rd. course time behind Mark in jackass.I have a feeling the RS corvette will do very well. But I have been wrong before. I think RS corvette and Jackass will judge very well this year also. Steve Good Luck ,kick ass & prove me wrong. And if you win I will buy you your choice of T shirts.Scott.

Since we're covering it we hope it's a Camaro too.. lol

Pozzi just did some cutting and some re-engineering.. nothing HUGE.. decided to put off the blower until after SEMA since we seemed to have enough power to 120 in the straight at Buttonwillow. Oh, and we have new brakes and shocks.. Hey, it's less than last year!

Hey, a free t-shirt? Hell, I'm all in now! lol -- It's hard to beat the DSE cars combined with thier drivers.. then again, one cone mishap and any one of us could be on the outs.

Thanks for the compliments on the car.. we just want to go and put up a good fight, not crash/break, and have a good time.. not necessarily in that order.

Just thought it would be fun to throw my picks out there.Didn't think it would afined anybody.Deep down inside I would love to win the thing.I know my son Kevin can wheel my car at the autocross.I have seen him have the fastest time at K.C. until the last few runs by Kyle. So I think my car is up to the task W/ Kevin at the wheel.I have slowed down a little on the road course a since I went backwards at 110mph at Topeka Ks.I found out I was not Cole Trickel after all.Good luck to all.Scott

I don't think anyone is offended.. :)

It's just one of those things that's impossible to predict.. The event is such a fluid enviroment that anything can happen.

Hell, it could rain and the guy on regular old street tires could win..

Yea, the REAL Cobra... yikes! --

Or the "weighs nothing" Factory-5 cars... Hey, if it was easy it wouldn't be much fun.

Us heavy old Camaros are at a distinct disadvantage to some of the rides showing up.

I do know that the Jackass has the best brakes..

I heard that Cobra has a 427FE motor...and it makes sick power.

Nice one.. and they say you guys don't have a sense of humor!

To be honest I think your Chevelle has a better chance than your Corvette.. that Chevelle is much more sorted out than it was last year and really hauls ass now.

Then again, the Corvette did really well in the Super Chevy track day.

At the Good Guys Chicago show the vette was actually faster than the Chevelle and we were having some minor fuel issues too.

At the Optima event, the Vette will be on street tires though (Pilot Sport PS2's) Nothing is available for the size wheels the car has in a track tire. 20x12.5 in the rear is the problem.

All in good fun Steve... gotta trash talk a little before the main event!

Welcome to our world... running a Chevelle against Camaro's. Our 70 is about 4200 lbs with driver and fuel. Most Camaro's are 500 to 700 lbs lighter.

Yea.. Jackass had the same problem finding 20-inch race tires.. I think the Chevelle will do great on the big track.

And the "trash talking" is all in fun.. but we are coming for you Ricky Bobby!

Alright Steve, fess up, or did I miss it? Upgrades, holes cut, ????? swaybar attach points?

Longer rear shocks.. bigger brakes.. a few other "special touches". David's swaybar design alreay has seven points of adjustment.

Nothing huge.. just fine tuning the girl for the event. This time I'm even going to run all 8 cylinders..

and even with seven points of adjustment you're falling behind on the rear bar development curve :unibrow:

hopefully the new rear bar will make it for the OLC in time :_paranoid
