Thats a lot of coin for a freeway flier gear and a usable 5th gear that'll barely get use on a few tracks in CA....

A TKO600 Kit is looking more and more attractive by the day, even though it doesn't shift as nicely.

I'm planning a roadtrip.

I was told with conversion parts for hydraulic clutch, and everything else, it easily ends up around $4500 or more in parts. :(

Every trans shop I spoke with said I'd be paying a premium for the T-56, and that it might not be worth it. I can only think of one track in Socal I could possibly use the extra gearing, and its cal speedway. Entering turn 1 and 2 at around 140mph is plenty fast, especially when the car would be capable of 200mph with the TKO600...

Sure the 5th gear would be more usable on the track. But WHAT track?

Thinking outloud here. Trying to talk myself out of spending that much.

Sure you won't use 5th and 6th on the track, but they would be nice on the highway. The new C5-C6 vettes can knock out 25-30 mpg easy withthe T-56. If you running a small block the TKO600 is fine but with any kind of big block I would think long and hard about anything but the T-56. The T-56 is standard equipment on a lot of Mid level sports cars, that has to say something. Find a used one. We just bought 2 different sons of transzilla transmission for less then 3100 each with low miles on each. Dave Pozzi has a used one for sale.

For a grand more, I'd go magnum. If you can reuse your existing parts then 600. You better not bring that thing through Vegas. You just might get blown off the road by a black shadow.

The Magnum is LIGHT YEARS better than the TKO in terms of shift quality and internals...

But, that said, get what you can afford.. nothing wrong with the TKO series..

Nurburgring & the autobahn :D That, and the shift quality was my reasoning for getting a T-56. Not much help, huh?

I would go with the 600. Why not? most people don’t know how to shift a tight shift pattern after being used to a muncie. I do not know what kind of gears in the rear you are running. If they are 4 11, I would consider a .50 overdrive. The only real factor is cost and fuel savings. If you are going for fuel savings and want to spend extra money then I would go with the 56. If you want to have an overdrive for a long strait on a road course then the 600. My 2pennies
