Some of you may remember several months ago I was looking for a shop to have my car painted. I ended up going with a local shop/friend of mine. It took awhile (4.5 months). I finally got it back last week. I'm still working on a few things like adjusting the windows, electric locks, and other misc items. Something I thought noteworthy is that a 4th gen front bumper emblem will fit in the emblem cut out on a 3rd gen (see second picture). Let me know what ya'll think:

Nice ! I enjoy seeing third-gens in good shape. Too many get abused and give the rest of us the negative stereotype... Any further plans?

Thanks guys. Plans for now are just new wheels (C6 replicas when the money is replenished). I've already upgraded the brakes, engine/trans (LT1/4L60e), and front new seats. I still need to find a good used dash pad and will be dying the carpet black. I had previously planned to install sound deadener throughout, but that'll have to wait for now with a new baby coming inside the next 2-3 weeks. I ultimately want to do an LSx and newer 4L60E with a 12 bolt rear, but that'll be several years from now. The LT1 runs very well, so I won't be tearing into it any time soon other than to possibly install a hot cam or something comperable like a cc305.

The color is Red Jewel. I don't know if it's the same Red Jewel as the 2010 Camaro. If it's not, it's close.

Geoff, you mentioned replacing the dashpad...I get most of my parts from Hawk's Third Gen Parts, Bruce the owner, is great to deal with. Even if you are looking for used, you might check with them. What seats did you put in?

I've gotten a bunch of parts from Hawk's (the hood and rocker pieces came from him). I know Bruce through a friend of mine. He's a good guy, I just can't always afford his prices. The seats came from an online vendor that's no longer in business. The seats (I think) were designed for an early 90's RX-7. They're black leather with a red spider stitched into the headrest area. My wife bought them for me at Christmas a few years ago.

I definitely will once I have it washed and the interior cleaned up. I've got some interior clips to buy to remount the interior plastics and I need to pull out the carpet to dye it black. I'm also thinking of putting the 17" wheels off my 68 on it for awhile since I plan to do some basic fixer upper projects on the 68 over the next few months. They fit on the IROC better than the 68 anyway and they really improve the look of the car. Give me a week or so before looking for more. I should have most everything done by then.
Thanks for the compliments guys - it means a lot to me.

Nice car where did you get the nose emblem?
GeoffP

It's actually a 4th gen emblem. I don't know if it's a 93-97 or 98-02 (I'm not even sure if they changed at the body design change / LS engine). It was one the body shop owner had in his "spare emblem" box that was new, it fit, so it went on. I think it looks good for something that wasn't intended for a 3rd gen Camaro.
For those of you looking for more pictures, I have to say I'm still trying to find time to work on it. I hope I can make a parts run to get interior clips and such by the weekend. We'll see if it works out.

Sounds good Geoff. I just got some new seats yesterday, test fitted the passenger side tonight and will have them completely in tomorrow. I'll post some pics when I get done.

I got a few things bought for the car tonight. I bought several cans of undercoating (3 from Wal-Mart and 2 from Advace) I bought the cans from Advance because they were labeled as having noise reduction. I plan to coat the exterior of all the wheel wells where they pass through to the passenger area and then undercoat over that on all metal surfaces of the wheel wells. If I have enough left, I'm going to coat the interior metal of the wheel wells as well. I figure that along with the OE sound deadening should help. I also found a good used cargo cover on e-Bay since mine broke when I pulled the interior out. Unfortunately I had to order the interior mounting clips I needed so the interior won't be going in tomorrow. I am planning to swap on the 17" wheels from my 68 tomorrow to complete the look. Maybe I'll take a few more pictures once I get everything I can do done tomorrow.
Cya!

I did a bunch of work on it Saturday. I rebuilt/repaired the power locks in both doors. My efforts weren't 100% successful, but the locks at least work 90-95% of the time instead of not at all. I also cleaned both door latches and relubed them. I adjusted the windows and T-tops to the point where both doors are getting a good seal to the new weather stripping. Unfortunately the car still leaks in the same place it always has, right over the shifter. I found that out this morning after last nights heavy rain. It looks like everywhere else is dry, so I think it's mostly leak free. I think I fix the leak with some well placed sealer, so that'll be in the works in a few days after the area's had time to dry out. I also cleaned out the hatch area, removed the carpet (no rust!) and vacuumed out all the trash and dirt from 20 plus years worth of use. I even pumped up the spare to make sure it's still leak free. For those that don't know, some IROC's had a collapsable spare that had an inflator bottle (mine never had the bottle - I just keep a small pump in the car) to pump up the spare if needed. It's super light compared to the standard steel rim mini-spare. Anyway, that's about all I got done. It took me HOURS just to get the doors fixed, adjusted and back together. It was time well spent considering that I get the satisfying "thump" when it closes and not a bunch of rattling. It's much quieter inside too, so that's a nice plus.

I'm still cleaning it up inside, working on the interior. I hope to have it all back together this weekend. It already runs great, stops great, handles great, has a nice radio/CD/iPod setup, so clean up is all for now aside from a keyless entry/remote start system (shopping around for this and looking for suggestions).
