Didn't see that one coming. I think that's a pretty cool deal. It means that Saturn will continue on.

I'm excited to see how this turns out.

Good to see Saturn will remain a US company for now. Another thing is I still don't see how GM does not think Pontiac is one of its core brands either? The execs must be hitting the crack pipe too much.

Well... after reading up a little more, looks like the plan is to sell smaller import cars though the Saturn network of dealers. Not sure what to think about that.

It will be a very sad day when/if Pontiac goes away. I don't understand how Buick gets a hall pass and Pontiac goes to the principals office to be expelled.

Does Buick have that much (if any) better sales than Pontiac? I have no idea what the stats are or where to find them.
It would be nice if they could keep both and dump Hummer, Saab, Saturn and clean up a few other things in house. Maybe they will come through this ok.

Old folks love those Buicks!

Yeah, you're right on the old folks. It reminded me of a northern part of Seattle here called Ballard. It is FULL of old Swedes. I am also a Swede. Maybe in another 20 years I'll need a huge Buick for cruising the strip there? Racing all the wheel chairs in an Estate Wagon complete with genuine imitation wood grain decals on the sides!

GM will keep Buick because it sells very well in China.

Not just China, in most Asian and Mid Eastern countries the only GM brand is Buick. That is why Buick got up over Pontiac.

I think their holding on to the Pontiac name for a future revival.

Need to drive by your local buick dealer and look at the lucerne and
their SUV--Very nice--i'm not a buick man either but they are slick--their car line is very streamlined as well---jim

yes but Cadillac has their hand in the same market. I see no reason why Buick buyers would not just step over into a Caddy. The thing about dumping Pontiac is that there are platforms there not in the rest of the GM line ala G8, Solstice, etc.

I wish the Pontiac G8 and G8GT would become the Impala and Impala SS, and Solstice would become another Chevy product to at least keep the quality products that finally reached production alive. If brands are being phased out, at least absorb the better models into the surviving brands to strengthen them.

solstice = saturn sky. Not bad cars. *No* trunk space w/the top down was a bad idea though...

They did well with detroit diesel, but if they follow the same path pretty soon our saturns will be owned by Germans and made by Chrysler.

If I had to guess, I'd say it's probably because most Pontiacs are
just rebadged vehicles from OTHER manufacturers. No big loss there.

Pontiac Vibe = Toyota Matrix
Pontiac G5 = Chevy Cobalt
Pontiac Torrent = Chevy Equinox
Pontiac Solstice = Saturn Sky
Pontiac G8 = Holden Monaro (granted this car is badass tho and unique to the US Market)
Pontiac G6 = I think it's their ONLY unique vehicle.

Buick has been revamping their styling just like Cadillac did with the CTS debut.
The 2010 LaCrosse is actually pretty damn sharp lookin if you ask me.
BUT.....I do also agree it's because Buick sells VERY well globally.
