Ok guys. I have been looking into building a turbo setup for my LT1. This isn't anything that is going to happen soon. I'm just looking into it and learning. I had planned to go with a Gen3 6.6 engine but after I wrecked my Formula, I had a perfectly good LT1/T56 combo to use. I thought why not, it'll be different.

Here's my situation though. I want torque everywhere. :D Can I build a turbo setup for my LT1 that will act in the same manner as a positive displacement blower such as the Magnacharger? Now I realize that I won't be able to get instant torque off idle like the Magnacharger. I would be fine with it coming in at say 2500 and holding til 6000 or preferably higher. Is it possible that I can get the same type all around stroker performance I would have gotten with a 6.6 Gen 3 with a turbo LT1? I'm only looking for around 500 rwhp and as much torque as I can get everywhere. Everything I am finding is geared towards drag racing. This is a street car.

If someone really wants to make me go crazy about which way to go, find me a bell housing designed to hold an LT1 T56 behind a Gen 3/4.

Thanks

a pair of right sized ball bearing turbos will gove you boost from less than 2000 rpm, and lag will be neglible.. the upside is that they will be at full boost say 10 pounds in the whole range where a positove displacement will ramp boost....

and if you are only shooting for 500 rwhp you should be able to get some very tight turbos... the best solution, bit a hard one engineering wise is a pair of VATN turbos that will give you exactly wjat you are looking for (vatn=variable area turbine nozzle) but they dont come in very many sizes... so a pair of OEM mercedes diesel turbos could be the ticket, but yoy need to talk to a turbo shop who know what they are doing...

schwartz extreme perf could set you up with both manifolds and turbos...
