See J, I knew all that talk about the "GBR" yesterday sparked a little interest in the Silver State...
I threw the gal on the dyno today to see exactly what she had been running the last few weeks in California. At a measly 8lbs of boost... and crappy California 91 octane... she put down 754 rwhp... and 726ft lbs torque. Im pretty happy with that..... that is until we crank her up.:unibrow:
Now we are going to strip the front end off and put a more modern front sub under her. Then she has quite the schedule this spring. Some photo shoots... Goodguys event, Texas Mile, Maybe run the Silver State(im undecided), couple Autorama's...ect. Should be pretty fun.
here's a short video of the dyno......

He was (maybe still is) a skater for Billabong... Parents own the Wyland art galleries in Hawaii... I'm over here now... taking in the Eddie Aikau (ran today) - and the Billabong Pipeline (Thursday)... bought a piece of art from him the other night. We didn't talk skating - he was too busy selling  ... but later I found out he was/is a pretty serious skater. Just figured maybe you might have run across him sometime.

Soooo......
Speed Tech has jumped on board and is going to make my Camaro that much better by providing a Subframe with all the bells and whistles!!
Im so stoked about this!!
Once the subframe arrives... we are going to do a full documentary on the "switch out" from my stock frame... to the new Speed Tech frame. Everything from the tear down... the swap.... to the reassemble.
Im thinking it would be cool to have here somewhere on the site so someone can see exactly what it entails to make the swap. (at least for a LS and T56)
The subframe should be to me 3-4 weeks... then a couple few days for the swap...
Big thanks to Roger over at Speed Tech!!

ya but.... you'll need what? New brakes, new wheels (wider!), brake lines re done, every thing else that attaches to the front frame re done or modified... How about shocks? Need some new double adjustable ones for that new frame and then you have to match the back ones. I think your list will grow, from more then just swapping front frames.

Nope.... the wheels and brakes will just mount right up. Only a small portion of the brake line will need to be changed... Shocks are coming on the subframe.... thats the beauty of this Speed Tech frame.
Plan is... drop the current frame from the body with engine and all that still on it. Then just lift the motor and put it on the new frame... swap whatever needs to be swapped... then drop the body down on the newly assembled Speed Tech frame. It will be a lot of work.... but this is the fun stuff. Maybe.. just maybe i'll need to change a section of the exhaust...
We'll see... i guess... lol.

No problem except you're basically making a aesthetic change. Did you already have the Gulstrand mod on your stock sub?

if speedtech is sending you a fully done frame then Im assuming you'll be getting the AFX spindles too and those need vette based brake setups. i would think some of your brake parts would interchange though.

I am receiving the complete frame. If it does need Z06 brakes... i have access to a few sets.... so thats a good thing. For some reason i assumed the current Willwoods i have would have just swapped over.

keep in mind you dont have to run z06 brakes if you dont want to, you just need the brackets and rotor hats that were designed for c5 or c6 uprights and you should be able to keep you willwoods.

I installed the Speedtech subframe..
What a HUGE improvement over stock. There is no rubbing issues at all. Here are a couple pics of the install. It took about 3 days to do. My car has a twin turbo set up... and the only 2 things that had to change was the exhaust downpipe on the drivers side... and i had to notch a section for an intercooler pipe. Other than that.. it was extremely painless.

I was ripping it for a while in MI. Not sure if you heard the 180mph viper race story... that was pretty fun. (50-180+ vs. a 850 hp viper that runs low 10's @138... took him by 1.5 car lengths twice)
Then took her down to a photo shoot where i was playing around drifting the gal.. did a few burnouts.... then the tires started hooking and i blew apart the spider gears..lol. We threw it back together... i moved to Carlsbad... the rear end wasn't acting right.. so i had Jerry at Oceanside driveline throw in a Detroit Tru trac. I also had Best of Show guys clean up some of that left over "Sema rush" paint...haha. Those guys are great.
Took her over to Turn Key and got a real nice cold start tune on her... now.. She is off to my buddy Shadowman just north of Sacramento.. where she will be getting her insides dissected.
We are going to completely update the wiring. Shadowman uses all the top of the line wire connectors and "fine tunes" the entire wiring. So when you look under the dash.. she will look "brand new BMW style".
He works on some pretty serious stuff. Check out his web site.

Ha, I remember seeing that street race vid before. I've always wanted a Viper to play with! Don't take much to get big power out of them, esp if you have the forged internal motor of the late 90s from the factory.

Well.. she has been delivered to the one and only "Shadowman". Shadowman nick names every car that enters his facility based on the character and purpose. So... he nicked named the Camaro.. "Road Kill"..lol. based on it kills anything that steps to it on the road. lol. (yeah, he knows of all the highway races).
So now he is going to put all updated wiring with the bad ass "BMW" style connectors.. and take away all wires from the harness that aren't being used. It should really "complete" the car. Im also having him re due the stereo system and get rid of the "volcano" style speakers in the rear shelf amongst other things.
I believe once she leaves Discovery.... she will then be "complete".
Here is the link that will show all the updates. Shadowman facility is beyond cool.. and the cars that come through there are top notch. Im pretty stoked to have him tighten up the camaro.

I have an update on the re-wire on my car.
Even though its a bit embarrassing.. understand that the car was wired in a matter of time to serve the only purpose of working and getting from Vegas to San Diego... realizing that it would have to be broke back apart for a "proper" wiring. Its not all completed yet... but the difference is phenomenal.
Shadowman has outdone himself. This was no job for the shy... and i am ecstatic with the outcome.
Now after the holidays... i am stopping by his shop to take the front end of the car apart and pin the crank... THEN im back in business!!:unibrow:
Click on the red "HERE" tabs and you can see the process step by step.

Holy shiat... Looks like she went on weight watchers.:unibrow:
Why are you pinning the crank? I have never heard of a turbo car having the crank pinned?
Your updates look great.

I think the balancer bolt has backed out a couple times on his car. It happened to me once and it was more than a little disconcerting...
Anyway, good to see all the wiring cleaned up Josh. I bet you can't wait to get the car back on the road.

Matt,
Good call on the balancer bolt. I have not heard of Josh saying that he had a problem with the balancer bolt.

Finally got the car completed. I flew into Shadowman's shop for a few days to spend some time learning about the wiring.. and to assist in tearing down the front of the camaro and drill the crank to "pin it".
All i can say is WOW!! The wiring is unbelievable. Here is just a quick photo of the plate under the dash holding the computers. The photo's really don't do it justice... but it is very nice. Even the speakers wire's have doitch connectors from BMW's. Everything now is extremely serviceable..and easy to find. Here is the link to the latest stage of photo's. I receive delivery of the car next week.
Back in action.:captain:

I took the camaro up to the Cars and Coffe (Supercar Saturday) last weekend with Chris and his Chevelle from Best of Show. Also met Matt with his Best of Show Camaro.
Man.. we had to hit the road at 5:30 am to get there by 6am to get a half way decent spot. It was craaaazy. Never have i seen so many ridiculous cars in one spot.
Anyway... me and the fellas were parked near the back of the lot... and boy did the camaro's drawl the attention. Even to the point to where the guys who started the whole Cars and Coffee invited the Camaro's to park "up front" next time we show up. I thought that was pretty cool.
Anyway.. the drive was awesome. Me and the Chevelle ran into a Porsche Turbo on the way there while we were cruising at 90. The Porsche guy parked near us and immediately sparked a conversation about our cars cruising so well at those speeds.
On my way home... i must have got snipered because a buddy sent me this photo with the words Paparazzi on the title. lol. His friends must have shot the photo and sent it to him..... who then sent it to me. Funny.

Congrats on the ink in Camaro Performers too. I know you've been waiting patiently for what seems like forever since the car was shot.

As far as the wait went... its all good... the longer the wait.. the more the anticipation! :lateral:
I was fortunate enough to see this car in person last weekend. Damn, the paint on this car is GREAT! Pics just don't to it justice. Maybe the car will be raced at the next event...? Again, fantastic car!

Josh - Nice meetin ya man. I was pissed I didn't get a chance to look over your car more closely. I was right there but had to keep moving. Hopefully next time. I'm guessing you'll bring it to the August event that sounds like might happen? :unibrow:
