{That seems to be the issue with 99% of the shops here in Denver, they are all collision and don't want to take on "restoration" work.
If someone brought you a straight car in DP90 that a refigerator magnet would stick to over 99.9% of the body, would you be willing to do the final paint work? Just curious what your take on that is.}
I'll try and explain this in the best way I no how. Each buisness (RESTORATION and COLLISION) are specialized buisnesses. In my buisness witch is collision I can move out 3 to 5 cars a week. Now I only had those cars in my shop for a week and made $10,000.00, cars are done and gone on to the next week (Im I just using the $10.000.00 as a #) Now I have a resto job in my shop for lets say a month maybe 2 maybe 3 maybe a year then get my $15.000.00 because you want a concours job.. So I just made $40.000.00 in one month and its going to take me 3 months to a year to make $15.000.00. In collision its all about speed. My techs look at a car and try to figure out how fast they can fix it.. Weld the quarter on bolt the fender on get a little filler to straighten the body line . Gaps look good ,paint has the proper orange peel, good to go. Everyones happy!!!!! There on to the next job to start the same prosess..These guys are pros.. Restoration is not my core buisness,so guess what your car is not going to be my priority ! My shop is putting out 3 to 5 cars at $10.000.00 a week NOW YOU CAR IS IN PAINT JAIL. And your pissed off because the cars been at my shop for a year:mad: I hope this helps you understand why these shops are saying no . These shops are doing you a favor. If your restoring the car find a restoration shop this is what they do,they do'nt do collision.....
You do'nt go to a German resturant and order spaggetti.......:lol:
