Well, the time has come for the Mustang to move on to another home. I have mixed emotions about this decision, but I think it's time...............
You won't see many nicer Fox Body Coupes around. It's an 1989 5.0 5-speed car with power windows. If you know these cars, '89 is desirable due to the absence of the airbag which allows for it to still have a tilt column and also it's the first year for the Mass Air EECIV (A9L).
Many of you have seen my car at RTHII, III, and IV. It is a really fun car and very reliable.
Here is a list of the mods from my web site.

There are tons of other little detailed things that have been done to the car. I pretty much bought it new whenever available.

Why are you selling?!?! Damn that is a nice Fox, very clean! Anyone who buys it is getting a beautiful car!
Good luck with your sale, but personally, I think you should keep it!

Combination of a few motivating factors -
I'm about knee deep in a '52 Chevy Pickup right now and I have a '62 Olds F-85 in line behind it. Garage space is at a premium. My wife is actually urging me to keep the car - that's a unique situation. I'm just ready to move on to some other projects.
I don't really have to get rid of it, but I just feel like it's the right move to allow me to focus move on to - hopefully bigger, better things!

Got any interior pictures?
Also, any more pictures detailing the rust that was removed/replaced?

I don't have too many interior pics - I need to take some. I'll post some when I get home tonight or in the morning. It's grey interior. It's in pretty good shape for the age of the car. The console has been slightly modified to mount my Air Ride gages.
The pics on my web site are the only ones that I took of the rust repair. The only two spots where the lower driver's side fender, which can be seen here.
http://wiedos.com/89_Mustang/Mustang%20Gallery/images/DSC00719.jpg
http://wiedos.com/89_Mustang/Mustang%20Gallery/images/DSC00721.jpg
and the decklid. I can assure you that those two spots were fixed right. New metal was welded in flush - no overlapping crappy work. I apologize for not after pics of the decklid, I probably forgot the camera. I can take some pics of the finished product if you would like.
The one other spot that you see in the pics was a dent in the lower driver's side quarter that had been repaired with filler previously. We went as far to remove the inner structure to get to the back side of the panel, pin welded and pulled and hammered and dollied it back to shape - then obviously the inner structure was welded back in place.
Once all of the repairs were complete it was primed with Dupont VariPrime, then Dupont UroPrime. Weld seams were seam sealed with 3M seam sealer. Sound deadening material was applied to the floors (not Dynamat though, but a cheaper version).
Another common problem area for these cars is the heater core - it is new.
One thing that I did forget to mention is that the cruise control is currently not working. Just trying to be honest. I think it's either a vacuum problem or a speed sensor issue. I haven't taken the time to troubleshoot it.

You can't see much of the interior in these pics, but you can see some of the Air Ride install.
http://wiedos.com/89_Mustang/AirRide/
The digital gage has been replaced with analog dual needle gages. As mentioned above I still have and it can go with the car if wanted. The readings were just too erratic for my liking.
Also, if not mentioned above it is a 4-way (each wheel is independant) Air Ride control setup>

OK - I'm working on putting the Mustang on eBay, but apparently eBay has made some changes that make it more difficult to post HTML in the comments section etc. At this point, my patience is wearing thin, so I'll get it up later this week.
I thought I'd drop the price again on here to see if anyone is interested. I'm really wanting to finish my truck and then move on to another project.
C'mon - help a brother out - and end up with a nice car in the process!!!

Why are you listing a dyno sheet that says 750 holley carb for a motor thats got efi on it ?
15 k may take you a good while..
I just sold a coupe we did for a customer that had every single nut and bolt on it brand new with a 375 rwhp on motor and 500 on the bottle 347 and tko in it just as clean with a brand new paint job that we did and the customer sold it for 9k cash
wiedemab
07-13-2009, 09:21 AM
The reason the Dyno data says 750 Holley is because the engine was broken in and dyno'ed with a carbureted intake and a 750 Holley prior to being installed in the car. The other dyno numbers are rear wheel from when I had the SCT chip tuned.
Point taken on the relatively crappy value of these cars. I'm sure your customer was about as happy as I'm going to be to lose a bunch of money on the car. I know what I have in my car. I'm not delusional - I know I'm going to lose my ass, but at some point you just have to cut your losses and move on.
Hence the "Or Best Offer". Hindsight being 20/20, I should have never bought and/or built this car. I could have put roughly the same amount of money into a 60's era car that I would have some chance of getting my money back out of. I was young and dumb and just wanted an LX coupe. Lesson Learned.
This is an opportunity for someone to get a really nice car for less than it would cost to build it - especially if you were to have to pay someone to build such a car.
If anyone is interested, throw a number at me. The worst I will say is politely - "no, but Thanks".

No luck on eBay. Unfortunately for me, the market as a whole for these cars is more focused toward the types cars that run 11's, but have rust holes in the doors - in the price range of about 1/2 of my car.
We are getting down and dirty. I am pretty much at my bottom dollar.

No Deal. When someone comes to look at the car two different times in person and drives it. Beats me up on price, finally makes and offer that I accept. Which the way I was raised, if you offer someone X dollars and they accept it, you just bought it!!!!
Well, not this "D-Bag". He gave me a bunch of excuses and somehow was trying to make this all my fault.
Still For Sale!
If I get yanked around again like this, I'm going to just say the hell with it. I don't need the headache.

I have had the same problem. I now use the no rides until you have the cash in my hand. Once done then offer the unconditional buy back within an hour if the person doesnt like the car. It seems to help weed out the kickers and talkers. Hope this helps

Thanks - I can't believe it either. Not many people have any money these days. I can truly say that there is no way you can build this car for anywhere close to the asking price.
It's much easier for people to spend $300 or $400 a month buying up parts etc. and build a car than it is to come up with a chunk of cash to buy a finished car. It's been a learning experience for me. There are some deals out there on finished cars. If you know that the car has been built properly etc., you can buy a much nicer car than you can build for the same money.
Even looking on the high end. John Parson's II Much is a bargain at his asking price, Camaro X as well. They are obviously in a different league and price range than my car, but the same principles apply.

Well, I bought or I am going to buy my Mom's boyfriend's (pretty much my step-dad) '99 Vette as soon as he gets his new one. He bought it new and has somewhat used it as his daily driver since new. Anyway, once I get it, I am really out of room in the already full garage(s).
Anyway, I just wanted to reiterate the fact that I'm ready to entertain any/all reasonable offers on the Mustang.
Thanks,
