Has anybody tested what kind of 1/4 performance is 1 gen camaro with LS7-T56 capable ?

I sure want to find out. My local track was flooded during the heavy rains we had during the Power Tour, and since opening back up, they're only running the 1/8th. That doesn't get me very excited.

I have been wanting to see that as well. I think with sticky tires(17-18) drag radials will be around 11.6-11.8 at 122 or so. The mph is capable of high 10's in a set up drag car.

there are many variables here . What kind of set up ? Are you talking 335 street tires, or a drag type set up ?

Stock LS7? That is about 430-440 rwhp, assuming a 3400 lb raceweight and decent traction, that is good for low 11s @ 120-122 if the driver can shift. Figure that is with a conservative 1.75-1.80 60' time.

I had a similar combo in a similar weight car (382ci LS1 = 440 rwhp, 3450 lb raceweight, T56) and it went 11.19 @ 125 with a 1.67 short time. On drag radials it would run 11.27 @ 125, with a 1.80 60'

Yes in a basic "g-machine" trim with lowprofile street tires and stiff suspension.

the only one I know personally with a stock LS7 and headers (69 Camaro 6 speed) went 11.70's or so at 120 something on street tires (no dr's, etc.)

I would think that high 11's @ 120+ in street trim with a decent driver is what most people will see. There is potential for low 11's, maybe better, but my guess is most won't get there without slicks and a good driver.

that's also in a new Z06, quite different chassis and weight wise from a first gen Camaro. Ranger I believe is the guy you're speaking of.

It may not help you much but I recall Hot Rod did the crate engine shootout with a chevelle, I know its not a camaro but I believe it would give you represenative info for what you are looking at. The month is october Here is a video of the comparison and I believe it has times also in the article

I thought this was one of the better Hot Rod issues in a long time, but I think that car and driver is pretty dialed in for drag racing. In that article it show the wheels off the ground by a number of inches with the 350 ZZ4 engine. I have owned about five chevelles two with big blocks that never hooked like that. Granted I was a knob but I still think the yellow car with a (LS7 Test) with a 10.78 in 3420lb vehicle weight is smokin

Yeah...It was a great article. But that car had a 5100 8" converter and 4.30 or 4.44 rear gears. Not really a streetable ride....more of a full on drag car.

Far from what most of us are doing, but it's an excellent idea and comparison. I think it's really cool. Is the article online or is it in the current newsstand issue? I'd like to check it out.

I know that my LS7, even with a small cam, pulls extremely hard and just keeps pulling. There's absolutely no comparison between the LS7 to the 434 small block that I used to have.
