Mods/Admin - I had started a thread months back but for some reason the update post were going above original post:willy: I thought I would start fresh and keep this one updated:
The roll cage is almost complete. I stopped by the shop and snapped a few pictures Today. I debated about material, size, roll bar or roll cage. I know this is a sticky topic of what is right or wrong etc. I tried to look at rules for something that over laps different types of events...wow there is no universal way. Rules, at least in my looking are confusing at best. So I elected to go with 1-3/4" DOM with 120 wall thickness. I also chose to weld to the frame. My frame is not boxed so we boxed/plated about a 7" section on the frame at each contact point. After talking with a few people about the floor pan I chose to leave a 5/16" gap and will later fill with seam sealer with hopes this may allow the body to flex a little.
I am using Delrin body bushings that I got from a board member here a while back.

In order to get the bar tuck as tight as possible he cut parts of the inner structure to push the bar inward.

On the front bars going to engine we are using tube clamps that will allow them to be removed. We are waiting for UPS to deliver the M/C Today so we can no where to bend as it is real close.

Just a few things left like picking seats and then will have to tie those to the cage. Here are a few more pics:

Thanks. As far as being done I would hope by next year (summer) but it is amazing how much time flys on top how a budget flys out the window:lol:.
I am going to cut corners and paint it Hot Rod Flatz hugger orange for now. I figure I can thrash it for a while and then maybe down the road have it painted.

Car is coming along nicely. Btw, does your cage weld to the frame or just to the floorpan? I read that for drag racing it needs to be welded to the frame on full frame cars. That is one reason I'm leaning away from doing a bar/cage.

Thanks. Yes it is welded to frame with about 7" of plate at each point where the frame is C sectioned. I have seen where some guy's have plated top and bottom of floor pan which I considered but since we welded it will have to be painted together. This car is going to be a beater anyway so will just mask the frame. How is your car? Is it back from paint and black?

I wish. Painter just recently came by to look at what needs to be done. Hopefully he'll start by the end of August. Been working on stripping it down again. Work is going slowly this time around. Seeing your car gives me inspiration though.

Thanks, The cage work was done by a company called Top of the line Fab.The pictures above are at my brother's shop..but he does not own it. He is employed by a Family that owns about twelve tire stores here in the area. My brother has always been paint and body and builder guy by trade. The tire store family are a bunch of gear heads and all my brother does is work on their private stuff. They have several dozen cars from C6Z06 vettes, LSX desert cars and a bunch of hot rods. He turns out some cool cars but no pt stuff. Some of the cars they just fix up and turn. For the most it's a cool job because he does not deal with any customers..just the family. It's a great deal for the guy's to have him on the payroll when you factor what a paint job or fab cost these days. When you have hundreds of people on staff it seems like easy to bury the cost of one guy spread out. Plus if the tire store mechanics wreck customer's cars (which they do) my brother can fix at a better rate. I am just stoked that they let me store and work on my car there.

I fitted the hood Today. The whole front group fenders, hood, core support is all the Dynacorn Taiwan reproduction pieces. I have heard many horror stories with things not fitting. I took a chance as I did not want to spend the money for Nos sheet metal (I have also seen where Nos does not fit so great either). We just spent a little time so far working on gaps and I must say things are fitting much better than I expected.
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x82/passperf/a111.jpg
One area I am a little concerned is the passenger fender where it meets the header panel is angled (see picture below the gray primer to the black panel above where the headlights go). You can see that it slopes where the driver side is more level. I need to get the grill and headlight eyebrows bought so I can see how much of an issue that is. Overall I am happy the way it is fitting as this car it just a driver anyway.

Not much of an update but I got the Hydraulic kit from Classic Motorsports (AKA Classic Chevy 5 Speed). I knew Jeff and the guy's had been working on the Chevelle application for a while so I waited. Finally last week they were finished up with first production pieces. The guy's over there are great and they won't hurry any products until they are totally happy with fitment and function. I was very pleased with their design of the bracket (Note: There are no current plans for them to sell as a stand alone item. It is only available when buying a full 5 speed conversion kit from them). The bracket mounts on the four brake booster stud and is nice and Strong. It comes into the left side of the clutch pedal unlike others that go between the brake and clutch pedals. Here is a few pictures. Sorry crummy cell phone pics as I did not have my camera.
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x82/passperf/1HYD1.jpg
My roll cage was close but cleared fine. This won't be an issue on most other Chevelles without a cage. It comes with remote reservoir and a direct mount. It appears the direct would fit if I did not have the bar through fire wall. I am using the remote. I not sure if I will leave it mounted like this or I may even use another type of remote. The hood does clear with plenty of room
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x82/passperf/1HYD4.jpg
A little wider shot prior to adding remote. The bracket while hard to see in this picture comes way out to the left.
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x82/passperf/1HYD2.jpg
I have a few more things to fit and then I will be taking the front clip and engine out for some paint. Were going to add a crossbar to tie the two engine compartment bars together with a dimple die cover. I also think I am gonna add down bars that drop between the UCA and fire wall. I am thinking of adding tabs to the engine bars so we can make some kind of fender wells as the stock ones are not going to fit right
Tom, the car is looking awesome.

Not much of an update, but I got my new wheels. I had to dig deep to find this thread  Family & work take priority over the car. However I use this site to get inspired everyday. It's the next best thing too see other members car's come together.
The wheels are Fikse Profil 13. I waffled about a choice for months and in the end picked these at the last minute. Thanks to Frank @ Prodigy Customs for the deal:thumbsup: I had called to get another brand originally.
Rears: 18 x 11 (6"BS) and front 18 x 9-1/2" (5.25" BS). I did not have the brake rotors on but it appears everything will clear good.
Also thanks to Jon @ Driverz Inc as he supplied the the Nitto tires and mounting. He is local too me. I wanted somebody that would not scratch or rough them up. He is a good guy and handled them with care.
Tires are 305/35/18 Nitto DR in rear and 275/40/18 in front. I was thinking Toyo R888's but maybe later if I actually make track days.

Well after hours of blocking, guide coats and wet sanding (I got cherries for finger tips ) we shot the Hugger Orange Hot Rod Flatz which is a satin paint Today.
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x82/passperf/IMG00037-20090328-1131.jpg
My brother has been helping/guiding me on the body work because it is what hes does. For the record the body still really needs more work but getting time to work on it is limited for me. The plan was for the Hot Rod Flatz to be temporary anyway. He had never shot this stuff before but his friend had and said that he could not get it to flow and lay down. We had the same problem almost like zebra stripes with a very uneven result. The picture does not really show how crappy it looks. I suspect it was something we did as I know they sell allot of this paint so I am not bashing the product. In any case we don't care to explore why or how because the color is awful looking IMO.
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x82/passperf/IMG00043-20090328-1709-1.jpg
I think I will just put it in primer for now and try and get it together. My attention span on this car is passing quickly. I figure once I get going I will want change things anyway.
That's a really nice Chevelle Tom. I have always liked that body style and the stance and wheels just add to it. Nice!
What happened to the old wheels? (the grey 5 spoke set)
Are they for sale?? If so, what brand, model, size and backspace? They are pretty much the same style and color I've been wanting for my project.
This may sound like a rookie question but do the second gen Camaro and your Chevelle have the same lug spacing?
Sorry for the hi-jack on the thread.
Eric

Thanks Eric, I sold the old wheels and tires a while back. As for the lug pattern it would be the same for your camaro, however the width and back spacing is also a thing to consider when buying wheels.
Thanks for the quick reply Tom. I'll keep the width and back spacing in mind.

I am thinking anything but gray. Maybe white tinted primer. I know to some it may seem silly not to finish the paint but I really don't want to stick more money in this car at the moment. Don't tell my fellow chevelle builders but I kinda want a first gen camaro ;) My wife even told me that I should have built a 68 camaro:lol:.

Well I brought my car back from my Brother's shop mainly because our schedules would rarely match where I could work on my car. My wife loves when I spray in my gararge..not :D . In any case I have got more done in the last few weeks than I have done in the last 6-8 months and it feels good. I scuffed it down after having the problems with the Hot Rod Flatz and had a guy at the paint store mix up something greenish in primer. It's not for everybody but good enough for me for now. The firewall is a semi gloss black. I am not a painter so it is likely below some peoples standard but again it's all about getting it on the road DIY style. The cage and floor board is POR-15 gray. The cage is like painting a golf ball so it has some sags and a few holidays. I had planned to just use it as a base anyway. I have most of the front suspension on except for the sway bar. Gonna start plumbing and routing wire soon. I have to do a little sheet metal work where the back seat used to be. I need to get some shears and maybe build a DIY sheet metal break. Hopefully more updates coming in weeks ahead instead of years

Just got done mating up the transmission/engine and shimming the TOB etc. Nothing like a little Monday night swearing :willy: It feels weird to be bolting things together and leaving them after so many times assembling things only for mock up. Tonight I got the the power steering pulley and pump via UPS. I have had the engine in and out a number times and just did not think the ps pulley would be a problem with the steering box. I was wrong..
I am using vette acc's.
Note the pulley is not all the way in these pictures but even it was it would not work.
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x82/passperf/ps1.jpg
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x82/passperf/ps4.jpg
The pulley I am using is a C6. I am wondering what some of the other A-Bodies guy's are using and how close to the gear box is? Is the C5 pulley smaller diameter?
Below is a pic of the engine position. It is moved as far back as I could go. My first thought is move the engine forward which I wanted to avoid. Not sure that it would be enough anyway. Second thought was to raise it again via spacers between the engine stands. Also did not want that. Third thought was a Unisteer rack and maybe kill this problem and the nagging tie rod issue.
You guys have any thoughts or suggestions?

I am still plugging away every once in while but I hope to get this thing going soon. My plan is to take it next March to the Run to the Coast event at El Toro. We actually turned the key the yesterday but it only cranked. The fuel was leaking so I will have trace that down and give it another go.

I got my Inland Empire Drivline and it is a nice piece. I screwed up of the first measurement and was 1" short. The guy's IEDL were nice about and gave me a deal on a re-tube. They asked if it was their mistake and I was honest and said no. The guy smiled and said the rework will be half the normal cost for being honest. He said it happens often and normally people blame them so I was happy.

I have not been good updating this thread but I got the car fired. It runs nice and smooth just like a new car. I did however hit a snag on the hydraulic clutch which resulted in pulling the trans yesterday. More on that below.

When I went to bleed the clutch I noticed the braided line leaking inside the bell housing. I am using a RAM hydraulic bearing and I was not aware I needed to use teflon tape on the bearing side. The whole hydraulic clutch is new to me so live and learn. I was also concerned that clutch was rock hard.
If I opened the bleeder the pedal would sink down to the floor. I am thinking the spacing was off but checked that tonight and I think I am good. I will check more tomorrow.
Here is a pciture of the bearing relaxed
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x82/passperf/20114.jpg
So since pulling this thing is a big PITA I hooked up the bearing and bleed it with the Motive pressure bleeder
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x82/passperf/20112.jpg
After bleeding I pressed the clutch in to be sure it was moving. I am also concered of over extending so I may need to add a spot on the pedal.
It moved out:
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x82/passperf/20113.jpg
I figure I can also check for more leaks.
*Here is where I am confused. I pumped the pedal and it extended till the pedal got hard. Any additional pressure by my foot would likely damage the bearing. Should the pedal remain hard at this stage?? Does the pressure plate help return the pedal all the way up thus reliefeing the had pedal?
I must be missing something so any feedback would be helpful.

Roger, I did not explain very well. When I had the trans in the car and bleed the clutch the braid line leak was very little (bigger puddle over night) so the pedal still became hard after I pumped it however never would release. Now trying it with the trans out it seems to be doing the same thing. Assuming the spacing on the bearing is correct would the pressure plate return the pedal when I release the pedal? I think I have the correct master as it came from the Hurst/Classic 5 speed kit. I will try and call them tomorrow but was hoping to put it back in Today.
Thanks

So when the pedal became hard, was the clutch fully disengaged. I had to pull the trans in my camaro race ca few times to get the spacing just right. Then you have to set a stop so you don't over extend the throwout bearing. Sometimes I wonder how exact those after market bellhousings are. Just a bit more depth can change everything.

I've installed two of these. They are very specific about spacing. If you've ever driven a new car with a hydraulic clutch... The description would be "silky smooth" or "like butter".... But you'd never hear "rock hard".
My guess is that you have "something" wrong. So don't button it up until you're certain of the operation.

That's why I thought he ran out of master cylinder travel. If the cylinder is too small you may not move enough fluid to get the bearing to release the clutch. Just because they said it would work does not mean that you were talking to a sales person who knew what they were talking about. Plus having to pump it up leads me to believe it is too small also.
But I'm wrong alot, So who knows. When they work right they great. But sometimes getting it there takes some work. I love the clutch release smoothness and the height now. I hate low release clutches.

Sorry Rodger --- I was not really responding to your post.... I was trying to respond by ADDING to what you said. Guess I shouldn't have used the "quote tool".
These hydraulic clutches are super trick stuff -- and work so well and so smooth... but ya gotta get 'em set up right on the money.
I really have no idea what's wrong with his set up -- I was more just trying to say... it should work great and if not - keep searching for a fix!

Congrats on being so close bro---hope you do make it to RTTC---Taco Party at my house on Sat night following the event.
Doug
Thanks Doug. The RTTC event is not going to happen as just too many nagging issues for a limited weekend warrior like me. My thought was just put a windshield, seat and harness and go but I am sorting out all the leaks which include every type of fluid such as oil lines, brake lines, coolant...you name it I have them. This clutch issue is just added bump in the road and once past that there will be other issues that pop up. Many of the members here make it look easy building a car but it is a roller coaster for me  I will say I am so glad the paint and body is not done because things got pretty sloppy with brake fluid flowing all over. My paint on the frame is messed up but it can be touched up and does not show for the most part. I tip my hat to all the guy's with the skills to avoid messing things up. I do know if I go this deep on another car in the future it will be better the second time around because I will have a better idea of what to expect.

Rodger/Greg, thanks for the feedback. I think it must be in the spacing. I just did not have time to measure Today. I still think I am not good at putting the problem into words. I did not have to pump the pedal to get movement. I was speaking about pedal being hard and if I open the bleeder I could pump the pedal then. I believe the bearing never fully engagded the clutch fingers.
With the bearing out I was able to get the movement of the bearing with one step on the pedal and was wondering if the pressure plate overcomes the bearing thus returning the pedal from the floor because it remained hard. It seems logical that the pressure plate should return the pedal linkage? I will report back when I get info.
Thanks,
GregWeld

Tom
Since there is ZERO resistance on the hydraulic bearing with it being "out" of the car - there should be ZERO effort on the clutch pedal.
There is something going on there and my thoughts are it isn't the bearing -- I'd be looking at the pedal etc.
Try disconnecting the bearing -- or have someone hold a pan under your bleeder and then depress the clutch pedal - check for binding etc. Better yet - disconnect the pedal from the M/C and actuate the M/C by hand to see what it feels like. I'm betting your pushrod is too long and you're bottoming out the M/C giving you a "hard" clutch pedal feel. Sounds to me like there's a problem that is not really bearing related but in the pedal / M/C area.

I have installed a similar hydraulic clutch in my Dad's chevelle when we did the TKO install in fact used the same throwout bearing, Ive heard of some people having problems with Wilwood masters, something about the internal spring in the master becoming unseated and causing problems, My setup has a Tilton master but the design is different enough not to have the issues of the wilwood. Not sure which master you have just a thought though.
Hope this might help, Jake

So I pulled the transmission out and measured for the TOB again.
I came up with 3.08" from face of bell to high point of the clutch fingers.
The TOB on the spline compressed measured 2.47" from the bearing face to the mounting face on TKO so that left a delta of .610". I originally had only three concial spacers which are .100". I added another one which gave me a total of .400" or a .210" gap. The Classic Motorsports instructions indicate it must be a min of .125" gap to max of .225". Put the trans back. I now have a clutch feel. I pulled it out under it's own power which was cool, but the thing does not go into any gear easy running or not running. I did some searches and seems Tremec had some issues a few years back with shifter lug tolerances. I don't know if that is the issue or not or not but IIRC I bought mine back in 07. I was thinking clutch engagement is still off but don't know yet. I seem to recall trying to shifting it on the floor out the car a long time back and thinking it was harsh and not defined.
Here is a vid of the drive. I spliced it together to make it shorter

i dont think the tko is the issue. those problems were mainly during high rpm shifting. ive done a bunch of searching in the last few days deciding what i wanted to do about my tko and i didnt read anything about the issues youre having.

Thanks Dave and Tim,
And you guys are correct in that it was not the shifter lugs as it turns out my Hurst shifter was a little loose causing it to bind :lolhit: . I mounted my Kirkey seat with some Wedge engineering brackets I had. They are are not made for the seat but will for now and much safer until I can weld in the new mounts. I added some more gas and took for a quick spin. It seems to shift fine. I have a ton of work ahead but man driving the thing for a few minutes felt awesome :woot: I just barely tapped the pedal and the thing fish-tailed at roll. I guess I was surprised as I did not expect that a stock LS3 would feel so good. Bare in mind this thing has been a dead horse for many years so it has been a while since I have driven anything with that kind of power.
I need to get exhaust and a few things now so I will likely have no more test drives till then. But I can't wait.

I got a windshield and a basic exhaust system on it (dumps before the rear axle). I plan to run like that and hopefully later mod my Ricks tank or possibly get one with shaved corners and clearence for a Fays 2 watts link and 3" exhaust. The muffler shop was only about a mile away so I drove it home. I still need to get an alignment badly but the mile drive was enough to know my remote oil lines still leak. I can't get the -12 AN to seal at the pan. The area is real tight. I am using Earls but just ordered some XRP lines and fittings.
I not 100% sure but I think not only is it leaking there but it have another leak in the seam. I am hoping that it is flinging oil from the lines if it is not well I don't know. Changing the pan means pulling the engine which will suck.
I should have the lines on Monday so we will see. I have the fenders, hood and trunk on but need to get them aligned better and all in one color primer.
It kinda a spotted mut

Sorry 'bout the leaking fittings.... Heres's trick that I use... I sneak up on the tightening -- and loosen it... and tighten a little more... loosen and tighten some more. Makes the two surfaces bed into each other.
That -- and there are "flare savers" -- copper "washers" you can get for 37* AN fittings. Put one between them and bingo problem solved.

I changed my remote oil lines to XRP fittings and hose and they cured the oil line leaking. Still have a little leak somewhere but it is small. I got the front end aligned Today. Seat belts are next but I jumped on the I-10 freeway for a run through the gears on the way home. It was fun but I can't help feel a little nervous over every little noise :_paranoid . I think it stems from you have turned a wrench on every bolt on this car and wondered how many or what I missed;) The car seems real rowdy right now because of the lack of side/rear windows, carpet, door panels etc.
The valve train seems very noisy while driving but again it is hard to tell right now. Power seems to be crisp and good although it has a slight miss so I know I will need to get a tune. I am so glad I bypassed the paint part for now because the driving/running part has refueled this on & off again project for me. I still look forward to getting done with paint and all but for now I will continue to work out all the kinks. I hope to get the spotted mutt in one solid primer color in the next few weeks.

I had been trying to get my car to my brother's shop but kept getting put off due to the booth always full etc :( . So I went and bought a Harbor freight HLVP spray gun for $39.00 and sprayed it myself in my garage. I spent a lot time covering things up the garage as overspray sucks. Note for other newbie DYI sprayers, wetting the floor down prior not only keeps dust down but also helps from overspray sticking to the floor.

The 5 way harness is a PITA running to the store etc. If was just a roll bar I would put morris 3 way belts in it. All those options are still there so we will see.

Looking really nice Tom, I have planed on doing the same as you did. Get it altogether and then sort it out than blow it all apart to paint it. Can't wait to here how you do at California Speedway, good luck

Yesterday I made out to the Hotchkis autocross and had a good time. Car ran good. My wife and kids were there on my first few runs so here are what pictures and a short video I have. I am glad they stopped by because I never found time to take any pictures myself.

I had a few goals one of which was not to spin out and make an azzhat out of myself on my first ever time autocrossing. Most had already had 15+ runs from the day before but they still let us walk the track on Sunday. I was walking with Rob from Hot Rod and his advice was to just drive it slow the first few times to get the nerves down. I knew he was speaking from prior knowledge as I recalled his turn 2 off track exp at the 2009 OUSCI. Well I never really got the nerves down but I also never spun out either. My first few runs were like 41.xx seconds and then 40.60. Sometimes I forgot to look and never saw the complete list as I cut out about 4 o'clock prior to awards ceremony. Then Matt (69MSA) came over and rode with me a few time and also took me around in his sweet 69which helped. I am not the best student but with Matt's help I ran a 39.20. He showed a few things how I was taking corner's wrong. I did get one of his tip's but there were others that I honestly would forget but a big thanks to Matt for taking the time  The 39.20 was still way off the pace as the fast cars with street tires 36.xx with alot of others running 37 thru 39's. I think 73CPCAMARO ran a 34.xx with hoosiers or something. What a nice car that is. I think I will be able to focus better next time. My short list is better tires (200 tread wear) and a more aggressive alignment. I tried the brake stop a few times but never a full run. It just did not feel right to do yet. The car has about 300 miles on it so I made up my mind to sit that event out till I get a better feel for the car. The seats combined with the down bars make it a little hard to get in out but once your in it feels good. The Kirkey seats sit nice and low with the cage tucked high. I had no problem with helmet hitting bars. All in all I am happy, slow but happy  Below is my first ever autocross run. Believe it or not it seems much faster driving it then it looks.

Car looks great Tom.. . Im sure it was a blast just getting it out on the open road. For me that seems to be what I like best. You did real good for the first time out on the autocross. I have never done it before and feel like Im gonna be a tool but oh well...gotta start somewhere!

Ron, The mufflers are Flowmaster's but I am not sure what series as they came in a A-Body 2-1/2" kit. I think they might be series 50? but they are not marked. I had a local shop install the mufflers but he was having troubles making the kit fit. So I ended up with a non mandrel bent 2-1/2" pipe , no cross over and they dumped before the rear end. The shop was a small town local hack  New mufflers and exhaust system are part of a long term plan. The Ricks tank without notches (cut corners) will make it a little tricky to get over the rear end. I am think the Borla mufflers would be what I want in the future.

Great loking car!!!!! awesome write up on the build as well. as a owner of a 69 chevelle myself I am enjoying what you are doing to your car.
I looked thru all the pages and didnt really see anything about the suspension setup you are running. is it possible to get a run down on what you have on the car at the current time!!!!

Sorry I missed your question. The mounts were made by a member here named Todd Sickles? I think. I can't remember his screen name. I think he made run at one time but you might try this guy as I noticed they made some aluminum http://www.lateral-g.net/forums/showpost.php4?p=362760&postcount=26

Thanks Kevin,
Here is the current list with changes planned as I get to it.
Front: SPC Performance Upper and lower control arms, ATS (Speedtech) Spindles, Varishock coil overs, single adjustable with 650# springs
Sway bar is a stock OEM (i think 7/8" diameter)
Rear: Currie adjustable arms, with Bilstein shock and Speedway 5.5" 225# coil springs, no rear bar yet

Hi Scott, No real big updates. I got the transmission back in after replacing the hydraulic TOB but only put about 100 miles. I also changed the tires to 200 tread. I went with 275/35/18 on front and 295/35/18 on the rear in a NT05 Nitto. I had nitto drag radials on the back before but wanted to have the required tires for autocross events. The LS3 is just stock but the NT05 seemed to not hook at all. I went for a drive Today and it fish tails a lot through third. Some of you guys with 550+ HP must really have to be careful because the rear wants to come around on my stocker.
Starting next week I plan to shim the motor mounts to make it higher for oil/tie rod problem. It has been cold (i know that sounds funny in Southern California) so I have not been in the garage much. I really want to get some things more tidy before the El Toro event but if not I will just roll out with my huge gaps and primer, no carpet, no anything

If the rear end is wanting to "come around" -- you need to get back to an alignment shop and have 'em do a 4 wheel alignment. My guess is you're "out of square" just a bit on the rear end. I had that on the Nomad... and it was only about a 1/8" "out" but that caused it to push the rear off line. Once the guy squared it up -- she launches hard and straight as an arrow.

Greg, Thanks. I think you might have a good point. A while back I developed a rub on drivers side tire with my old tires. I scratched my head while wondering what happened. I thought the body had shifted but it was snug plus the car cage bars that tie into the frame so it can't go far anyway. After thinking and searching the forums I realized my upper adjustable rear control arms were not tight. I then dialed the rear end back to where I thought it should be and the rubbing was gone. I then changed the tires so it seems the rear very well could be off. I will add that to my list and thanks again as I would not have never thought about it:thumbsup:

It is just primer (UPOL I think). It has been on over a year however the car only has about 900 miles on it so needless to say it has spent very little time in the sun.
It does not stain that bad like the primer they made years ago. I wash it with a little squirt of simple green to remove the grease:lol: . Some day I will get some color but it sure is nice not to worry about nice paint.

I had fun with the car last week at the Socal Challenge. I put about 20 hours the week prior just looking for loose bolts. I was looking for any issues etc and noticed the driver side coil over was blown out.
The threads ripped out of the lower body

I never felt there was any travel from day one. I have no idea how long it was like this as the car was always firm. I have SPC arms which have a built in drop which made the already short shock shorter. I used 650LB springs at the time. These Varishocks were going to be changed down the road as I already purchased Ridetech rear coil overs so this just moved the fronts up on the priority list. I called Ridetech in the middle of the week and they shipped me a set front single adjustables the same day via Fedex. I went with 700LB spring at their suggestion (225 rear). What was really nice is they have options that will extend the shock. I was not sure which one I needed so I bought both the standard height and the extended. I tried the standard first and needed to raise the car more.
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x82/passperf/2012-09-07_09-06-12_470.jpg
Mike @ Ridetech advised that I would need to use a little heat from a torch and some wood to keep from crushing the shaft.
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x82/passperf/2012-09-07_14-09-18_217.jpg
They use thread lock on these and for a while I was loosing this battle. I am sure it is easy with the fixture they use.

This picture shows my old and new (with standard height before I changed) coilover. The Ridetech shock is far superior in feel quality. The other brand looked and felt like junk imo. I am really please with the ride and performance.

For the price I think these are some of the best shocks:thumbsup:
Not only did my ride improve but I picked 2-3 seconds at the Adams AMP track from last March. Shocks and tire pressure were the only things that I changed. I still don't have and id do any shock adjustments yet. This is the main reason I went with single adjustable as it will be a learning curve for me.

So I changed out a bleeder and was using my pressure bleeder which works good with one person.............that is until the hose springs a leak at the front and you see brake fluid spraying while behind on your back under the rear:willy:
