I have been looking into buying a nice used enclosed trailer for my 68 Firebird. What options/equipment should a guy look for in a trailer? I think a 22-24 ft long X 8.5 ft wide would be plenty big enough . Is there any features that you would always want in a trailer. I have read alot of for sale ads on ebay and racing junk but it hard to know what to look for and what options are really nice to have.

My first one was a 24 foot Pace. Just the basic one with wood walls. I thought I needed the door over the left fender, but in reality I rarley used it. My current one is a 24 foot Pace Shadow with the vinyl floor, aluminum wheels, diamond plate ramp, flourescent lights, and 6 inches extra height, etc. Do you need all that stuff? Probably not.

Depends what you want to do. I like the nicer look of this one, but it's function is the same.

Pace American has a good warranty and I feel that it is a little nicer quality than some of the others (Haulmark, etc.)

What are you going to pull it with ? My 20' trailer hauls Camaro's etc just fine and I pull it with a short bed 1/2 ton.

I would get the biggest your truck and budget can afford. A 24 foot trailer is the smallest I would go. You can put a tool box and other junk you carry in there and have some extra room.

I have a 3/4 ton Dodge diesel 4x4 with the HD trailer package so I can pull a good sized trailer. I was thinking 22 or 24 but I can see advantages of a larger one and some disadvantages. I guess some of it will depend on what I find for a good price. I was hoping to find a nice older one for 3500.00- 4000.00 but not sure if that will happen. I wonder if I wait untill fall if the market will soften up some.

a 20 ft trailer will have 3-4 ft extra room in front for tools, jacks, tires etc, but 20 is min, 24 is pretty good. you can find decent 5-8 yr old ones from 4-5k often just hop on them don't think about it because they go fast

We pull an American Hauler 24 footer with the single walk-through door. It's fine with convertibles, but a little tricky to get in and out of hardtops. Especially for me, 'cause I'm petite! :_paranoid Kelle handles most of driving on / off the trailer. Just be sure to get a good load-leveling torsion bar setup... it makes all the difference in the world when passing semis on the road. You want the ride to be smooth with your pride and joy in the box!

Steve, I am a trailer distributor and could set up a factory pick up for you in Indiana for a new one for mid $6K range that is pretty damn nice with Viynl interior walls, ceiling, lights, etc. We could add any options you want

I wanted to update the thread. I did find a trailer and brought it home. I went with a used 2002 24 ft. I guess it looks like one of the genric trailers you see alot of around. It has 5200lb torson axles and is set up just about how I wanted it. 110 wiring with lights and outlets, cabnets ,winch, and a tool box that even had some nice snap on tools in it. It pulls great and looks nice. Thanks for all the info everyone.

I am going to be selling my 20' Featherlite if anyone needs one. 12,000.00. New one lists at 13,995.00 I think for the base model. I added a winch and a couple shelves. Nice trailer. I pull mine with a half ton short bed with no problems.
